because she is dressed in ALL white, most Indians would think of her as a widow, a widhwa, a bewaa!

i know…but, is there a marker on widows in Pakistan? Muslim widow in India will NOT wear jewelry or overdo makeup or not wear very bright colors [taRkeele bhaRkeele kapRe]…she would lead a very simple life…even young widows are reluctant to overboard with clothing and makeup.

Light colours of clothes, not white per se. But I think things are changing for younger ones.

yeah, things are changing for women in the cities, but in rural areas, where 70% of Indians live, it’s more or less the same.

I don’t think that such stylish white is meant for widows. watch Yash ChopRa’s Chandni (released in late 1980s) and you will know that romanticism behind stylish white.
