In Depth Military Analysis and Projections

Malik, I think Ohioguy edited his post AFTER the first week to indicate whether he was right or wrong on his predictions for the first week - see the bold part.

Ohioguy, quite an impressive list of what you see will happen. Unfortunately everything goes out of the window at the end of week 2.

LOL! Malik dont step on his tail yaar.
General Ohio “Original Gangster” Guy, you were supposed to project your analysis of this war and not outline the events that are happening or have happened already. Thats cheating yaar, now next week are yew gonna edit your post again? :hehe:

You guys and your plots! Please print the dang thing if you are that nervous about me editing it! If I wanted to appear more accurate I would have eliminated the things that did not happen.

Lefty,
I will evaluate my predictions again after week 2.

Abdali, you did not catch me cheating. Therefore you can pick up your vaseline jar and continue daydreaming about big stiff missles filled with WMD!

He’ll be back in some days to edit his original post again with his “updates” - who knows how many words he changed from the original i.e. how many days he added to his predictions at the same time? :rotfl:

As yet no other war-mongering American has dared edit their original posts, but have just gone away thinking that people would have forgotten about their wild predictions. But keep a close eye they may do a daring “OG editing strike” as well. :rotfl:

Now you don't want to look 100% on the mark OhioBoy now do you or you would be running the pentagon.... But any way that was hillarious editing after 10 days..LOL...

Day 1: US fulfills promise by dropping more bombs in Iraq on the first day than were dropped in the entire Gulf War I. Iraqi regular army troops suitably shocked and awed. In early hours, Iraq attempts to and does launch a few chemically laden Scuds: targets are Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Day 2 (daylight): US troops seize the majority of Iraq’s key oil fields. Leaflets dropped on remaining regular army forces advising them to watch the night sky to witness the detonation of the Mother of All Bombs. Massive bombing continues on Republican Guard positions and command and control facilities.

Day 2 (darkness): A couple of MOABs light the night sky. Massive bombing continues.

Day 3: Most of Iraq’s regular army lays down their weapons and surrenders or defects. Most Southern and Northern cities in Iraq are in control of US and allied forces. Iraqi people are rejoicing in the streets. Broadcasts of the happy and cheering Iraqi people are flooded into Baghdad on a continuous basis. Saddam hunkers down in a bunker and Republican Guard uses Iraqi people as shields and set up shop in schools, hospitals, mosques and residential areas.

Days 4, 5 and 6: Baghdad under siege. Leaflet drops. Broadcasts non-stop. Selective bombing of Republican Guard and command and control facilities continues. US and allied troops mop up in all areas except Baghdad.

Day 7: Several key military leaders in Saddam’s inner circle surrender with their Republican Guardsmen. The noose around Saddam’s bunker gets tighter. Saddam orders the indiscriminant use of any remaining chemical weapons on advancing troops in downtown Baghdad.

Days 8 through 10: Pockets of loyalist Republican Guards in Baghdad are killed, captured or surrender. With few remaining loyal troops and no more WMD to unleash, Saddam kills himself. War over.

hmmmm its March 30th, 11 days after war started, with no end in sight in the near future. Infact, some general said it may continue into summer.
So much for all teh hoopla for a quick war and end of regime.

Not one prediction was correct.

11 days down the line and excuses galore?

Day 14 , and near the end of week 2... :)

Wars never predictable. Still if the Iraqis had tried tactics like this in 1990 when they had a much stronger military. It would have been one intense battle. In any case they only had two main battles in 1990, and both of those were retreating Iraqi troops..pretty much a rout. I gave them aboout 2 weeks for Baghdad. but theres still the West of the country Mosul and Tikrit as well. And the weather, the longer the Iraqis hold out the more the strain on supplies and on equipment. It is possible that Saddam loyalists could keep attacking US troops for months after Baghdad falls. After all ..all's fair in love and war..

Boy, am I glad I am wrong or what. I was dreading another Afghanistan. Thankfully Iraqis are giving them a good fight. Its great to see the high and mighty shown as ill-advised buffoons. Otherwise they would have thought that just by their missiles and airpower they can win any war. Iraqis are doing a great service to rest of the world. :k:

In my view, right now the war is prime time news. US military is making every effort to come out pretty from this war. Within a week or 10 days they may even have tanks rolling in Baghdad and Tommy Franks doing the press conference from Al-Rasheed in 3 weeks. But the US military will be completely swamped by what will follow. I hope a severe gurreilla warfare will start giving them the nightmares of Vietnam. Just as Afghanistan is old news, but its still giving a lot of heart-ache to the Americans, so will Iraqis.

That's the best prediction I've heard so far.

I quoteth myself:

"Much like the Taliban, when a crack happens in the regime, things could change suddenly."

OG I don't know which clairvoyent (and handsome) person first told us all that it would take two weeks from 03/24 ..

PA,

Indeed you are right! (about the military part, the handsome part at least your mirror agrees with! ;))
