Thap, try not to be too serious, or the Mods will tell you to contribute something productive or shove it.
Everyone, as PA suggested, revise your estimates. It appears, that I was pretty much on target (almost precision guided) to say that the Brave Allied Forces will reach Baghdad by day 7. They are almost there. The only thing I would like to revise in my own analysis is that I really didn’t expect Basra to fall so soon. I was expecting the Brave Allied Forces to take the Western Desert route, and avoid the River Towns, which do have significant Islamic terrorist presence (Fidyaeen, and Republican Party Guards etc). Western Iraq mainly has Oil Fields.
I project some heavy bombing on Baghdad tonight (heavier than the last rounds), and some calibrated attacks from the Northern Front.
May the enemy be defeated soon, and the Iraqis liberated.
Last I checked the oilfields were in the East, but don't let simple facts get in the way of your predictions. It's no coincidence they took that route.
Thap, the Iraqi Strategic Pipeline is almost 50-100 miles (along and west of the Euphrates) west of the route the Allied Forces are taking to reach Baghdad along the Tigris. But please don’t let these facts limit your analysis. When I said West, I meant West of the current route, and not "Young Man Go West". In any event, according to my predictions, there wont be any East West North South left in the next few days. With the grace of the almighty and the bravery of the Coalition Forces, Iraq will be liberated.
Day 36: Things are not going to plan for the US. Rather than being seen as the liberators, they are seen as occupiers. In their frustration, the US decides to bomb some of the neighbouring countries – ala Cambodia and Laos when things started going wrong in Viet Nam for them.
People are beginning to realise that the $75billion President Bush asked for on the 6th day of war against Iraq, was in fact due to the anticipated failure, and to expand the war against other Muslim nations (North Korea still enjoying the freedom to build Nuclear Weapons).
We are into week 2 now, Baghdad is not surrrounded, the Shia population is not rising up in Saddam city but humiliating every American column from Kuwait to Karbala.
Oh btw, we hear that the US military has called for a 4 to 6 day pause in it’s march towards Bagdad because the Iraqi resistance have successfully disrupted supply lines.
Long live the brave Iraqi people and their resistance to the Anglo-American invaders!
** 1 - Intensive bombing for the first 3 days of the Operation. Destroying whatever is left of the defensive apparatus of Iraqi dictatorial and tyrant regime. **
hehehehehehe
** 2- A double-up march to Baghdad (by day 4th of the conflict). Reach Baghdad on day 6. **
more hehehehehehe
** 3. Urban battles for 2 days. **
hahahahahahahaha
** 4. All Saddam forces surrender by day 7th. **
even more hahahahahahahaha
** 5. Saddam and his sons no where to be found. (My guess, hiding in some region of Syria). His Generals are killed and/or surrender. **
yawn and have a popcorn
Other then that you are a brilliant strategist you should replace Tommy Frank…
My projections are by the end of the week. Allow two additional days for sandstorms in the south.
The fact that supply lines are long is a result of success, having moved so far so fast. Frankly a week or two of tank plinking would be just fine.
Funny, 10 days into a conflict and people are freaking out. The only way the US loses this is that it loses it politically, or through a lack of will. Every day in the theatre the US gets stronger and Saddam gets weaker.
Much like the Taliban, when a crack happens in the regime, things could change suddenly. I remember all of your horrible predictions for Afghanistan, they did not work out so well.....
Long live the brave Iraqi people who have suffered through 30 years of slavery..... May they have freedom and justice.
Long live the fine people of the USA. May their future generations not suffer the hatred of the Middle east for decades thanks to the short-sighted policies of the current US administration. We don’t want to see any more Twin Tower tragedies
