Seminole, it is very easy for you to sit here (US) and judge other populace based on what the media shows you...isn't it? Are you really that naive to believe that US does not play a great role in destabilizing govt's across the world? I know that there is fair amount of crying by the muslims over trivial issues, but to sweep it all under the "victimhood" slogan is a mistake and foolish.
I didn't say everything falls under the 'victimhood' category. But I did give different options as to what/who can possibly be doing the victimizing. To ignore all those and blame the US for everything is a mistake and foolish. Sure the US is involved world-wide. But as I alluded to, they are the most powerful country in the history of the world, what do you expect them to do? Crawl under the porch?
For some, I'm sure the fact that the most powerful nation in the history of the world is run by Christians and Jews is problematic. Especially when Muslims are feeling victimized by that nation.
*Note I said "some" as there isn't one characteristic or sentiment that can apply to a whole group of people.
Theoretically & practically, it got raped by a nation a lot smaller than the state of Texas...so ur self proclaimed powerful ****stick is not what u think it is.
There probably is some actual victimization. But by whom or what? The US? Capitalism? Progress? The white man? Muslim leadership (or lack of)? Ancient interpretations of faith? Religious extremism?
But I do think some socieities have had the feeling of victimhood as a way of life for generation after generation. It is a safe little place to be a victim - that way there is no need to take control and responsibility - just blame someone else for everything.
some actual victimization?
my bosnian friends feel otherwise.
techically so do human rights groups and all but thats a whole diff story
actually even US felt otherwise and attacked the place while the rest of the world including the european 'thought leaders' sat on their hands and let the genocide go on.
when you make that list, which is going us? progress? etc realize that the list is incomplete.
chechen mess is another place where our frenemies, teh russkies went against all human rights in how they treated ppl there.
so there is some real victimization, and yes there is victimization by other muslims and inept leadrship as well. but you know victimization by outsiders is always a bigger issue, I mean US is all up in arms about teh 9/11 attack and the 7000 wait 3000 people who died, yet more ppl die in gang wars, dont see anti gang protests and laws etc at that level.
Seminole, actually this advice equally applies to the US front runners as well. You need to tell that to the Rupublican wild bunch like Guiliani et al thumping their chests telling masses that “they hate us 'cause…hmmm.. we are free and democratic and wonderful people.” :halo:

I agree, there is acutal victimization around the world. Some of the victims are Muslim with the agressors being non-Muslim, but there is not an American conspiracy theory against Muslims.
They do go on, don’t they? But I think they use these tactics to scare people. Who knows they very well could believe it, they are pompous and arrogant. Guiliani et al frighten me.

i dont think so, just like there is no muslim conspiracy theory against americans.
but that is what idiots in both camps believe. most of us who are muslim and american just sit and smirk at the idiots among both camps.
There is a good article someone passed on the net today by Zakaria Fareed. A lot of it is not new to some but it’s still a good read and put some seemingly vague realities into solid words: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19001200/site/newsweek/
