The majority of posters here have a mature outlook on life, politics and world-view. There are a few however who bash “amrika” at every opportunity. Its to those people I’d like to ask some things - in a thoughtful and mature manner.
While you disregard all problems in Pakistan and bring up all the evils that the americans have done…I’m wondering what YOU would have done - AT THOSE TIMES and in those circumstances. You have these vast resources at your command, both natural resources and human resources. So you clobber the Jews and the christians? THEN what? What would be your plan - and would you really have done things differently - given the time period and knowledge at the time the offenses were committed? And given the fact that you had the “upper hand”? I mean, it certainly sounds in the postings as if (those few of you) would use that Upper hand to destroy the entire population of Amrika…how does that make you better than Hitler? Or you have some OTHER plan that would bring about a better world?
I am in no way trying to justify the wrongs that have been committed over the course of the past 250 years…I would just like to know how YOU’d handle the situations if you were in the “seat of power” so to speak…would you do the same - mass genocides, wars, economic sanctions at the expense of poor people (white or not)? Or what?
This is not meant to be a nasty or mean thread…I truly want to understand where you’re coming from and how to stem the tide of hatred for us “amrikans”?
mamaof 3 why do u assume that those ppl want to clobber the jews and christians. at best they are nationalists who have more interest in regional strength and all than some sort of pan islamic agenda and in even that, I dont see indications that those posters were advocating bashing jews or christians. you otherwise excellent post loses it when such an extreme assumption is made as a given..

When theres a thread about Pakistani troubles, it typically has a couple of posters who bring in "American History" which is very troublesome - has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand etc. Just take a peek at the thread dealing with Muslim children being bullied in British schools....you'll see a couple of posters who want to drag in American history. Its THOSE types that I want to understand, yeah? Just WHERE do they find the connection between those 2 completely-not-connected topics...what on earth am I missing that I just cant see the connection there? I see them talk about Pakistans nuclear capabilities, how americans will be sorry and we have it coming to us etc... and they go all chest-beating about the issue without really addressing it and I fail to understand WHY

yeah but the beat up the christian and jews and that part of the post was uncalled for. because you are bundling all anti american ppl as anti chrsitian and anti jewish..
also ppl who critique US are not always anti america, because by that token US is anti muslim..
you should see the general mood about US in europe too..but you wont go and say oh yoy are anti US so what will u do if u had power after u had beat up on christians and jews.
as I said an otherwise good post completely losing its direction by that statement.
For some, I'm sure the fact that the most powerful nation in the history of the world is run by Christians and Jews is problematic. Especially when Muslims are feeling victimized by that nation.
*Note I said "some" as there isn't one characteristic or sentiment that can apply to a whole group of people.
Seminole, perhaps an example related to the issue or more importantly your statement will be nice. Why do you think Muslims feel that they are being victimized? Is it because they actually are? or is it just their "feeling"?
There probably is some actual victimization. But by whom or what? The US? Capitalism? Progress? The white man? Muslim leadership (or lack of)? Ancient interpretations of faith? Religious extremism?
But I do think some socieities have had the feeling of victimhood as a way of life for generation after generation. It is a safe little place to be a victim - that way there is no need to take control and responsibility - just blame someone else for everything.
