When 99% of the parliamentarians are disagreeing, doesnt make an iota of a difference if Imran shows up or not.
That we are learning NOW after some hours of session.
This is a little surkhi in an Urdu paper, and perhaps those criticizng him on taking foriegn trips should ask their own leader to come back from his permanent foriegn trip to solve such problems.
What about those who don't have a leader in "foreign" country/trip?
Of course he might have to cancel some events as he has charity work to do
Imran Khan visit cancelled after donation row
The Canberra-based Pakistan Australia Friendship Association has withdrawn an invitation for cricket legend Imran Khan to visit the national capital this weekend because it was asked to donate $25,000 to his political party.
He has been paid a fee to speak at the Commercial Radio Australia Awards on the Gold Coast this weekend and will also attend functions in Sydney and Brisbane before returning to Pakistan on Sunday

I could have told you it was bound to happen and political experts knew about it. I dont think anyone whose invited to sit in the 'guest' section of the parliament gallery would be able to make a difference.

So how do you think a "national consensus/understanding" can be reached without all leaders sitting in a conference/briefing and talking about it? It seems like we should just avoid such meetings based on "expert analysis"... did these experts tell on how to build national consensus?
Re: Imran Khan, Qazi Sahab and other refused to attend closed door session
^ Parliament is responsible for decision making.
Furthermore, this isn't a 'conference or a briefing', its a session of parliament, and its the job of those elected in this parliament to do what they must. I can see why Nawaz Sharif should be there, because he has his MNAs and Senators there, and didnt choose to boycott the elections. For Imran, it wouldnt be prudent of someone like him to go and just sit on the specator gallery watching the show.

I don't think it was just Imran Khan who is not a member of NA and still invited. Purpose is to take the nation in confidence before deciding on what course to take. I agree its the responsibility of "National Assembly" but as some leaders chose to sit out the elections I think it was wise to invite them for "understanding" purpose (not necessarily for "decision making").
Re: Imran Khan, Qazi Sahab and other refused to attend closed door session
Its a tough job, but responsibility lies with the government. They must do the following
1. Save lives, give their best shot
2. Try to change people's mind, who even after all these blasts, are more sympathetic to islamists than the army or the US.
Aus event is on 11th I am sure we will see Immi Bhai on different channels bashing Govt for 2-3 more days before boarding for foreign trips. He should have utilized the time for betterment of country.
Australian tour is from 9th - 12th ... he is already there. He had to fly on the day the session was called (yesterday).
What is more important, the country or foreign trips. Well Imran has told us his preference. Shame on him.
Do u really think this session would change Zardari's plicy on war on terror and other issues? ... NO way..... If this session would solve any of the problems or bring any noticeable change, i would condemn that trip.
These type of sessions are not called every other day, while events abroad could've been delayed. I don't think this session would've lasted for weeks or even days.
OK, same for the govt .... these type of sessions are not called every other day, they should plan well to make sure everybody could attend it.
It wasn't like they had just 1 day or 1 week to take a decision; we have been in this crisis for quite some time, and i am sure at the end-of-the-day it will be the way what Zardari has already decided.
