Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

People who do not believe on God are atheists (one can include agnostics amongst atheists too, as these people have reservations in accepting or believing God). Survey of European Union ‘Full and Associate’ member Countries was taken in Jan-Feb 2005, where it was asked if hey believe on God or …?

Religion in Europe - Wikipedia

You would find that except few Catholic and Orthodox countries, most (20 out of 32) have less than 50 percent population who believes on existence of God. Amongst major, most important and heavily populated European Union countries (UK, France and Germany), none have more than 50 percent population that believes on God.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Students at the Punjab University have begun to vent their rage against the Islami Jamiat-e-Tuleba (IJT) over their role in undermining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan.

On November 14 as Chairman Khan emerged from hiding to address the students of the Punjab University to spark a movement where the young would begin to lead the change in Pakistan. Unexpectedly, the IJT manhandled and kidnapped Chairman Khan before handing him over to the police. The Islami Jamiat-e-Tuleba also beat up Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers who were accompanying Chairman Khan.

In retaliation over the role of IJT, the Punjab University students ransacked the offices of the militant IJT. The students of Punjab University feel betrayed by the IJT’s role in trying to subvert the increasing opposition to General Musharaf’s rule. Chairman Khan is unanimously seen as a hero by the young both when he was on the cricket pitch and today in the political arena.

The student protests against the IJT were so strong that one of the IJT leaders is said to have quit. Other IJT leaders and workers have been beaten up by the enraged campus

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

It is really funny that Pakistan had 8 years of decent politics, calm atmosphere (in political front), no road agitation or police danda, tear gas, police running behind protestors and beating brutally anyone to hell they get hand on, while protesters running around all over the place, shouting, and hiding to save their skin from danda … and so on. It seems we have forgotten what Pakistan was like and what police can do to opposition. Be that Bhutto time, Zia time, BeNazir time or NS time, when purpose of police was to bull doze any opposition dare to come on road, though opposition also use to find people to come on road, and million march was not uncommon.

When I saw agitation after Sept 2001, where even effigy of Musharraf was getting burned, no police action inn big way was big surprise. Even during CJ fiasco, I felt that police was too timid and was not showing their true traditional character, to such extend that goons in black court were even daring to beat up government supporters and using hard language against President, and were still getting away. Goons of Lal-Masjid kept on with their dirty dance for around 6 months and no hard hands on them ... ... ... etc.

Media criticizing people in power was a major change in the country like Pakistan that has low tolerance. Few on media that showed less tolerance was not people government (except one, WZ), but mostly people from opposition, like BB, FR, Qz, and Imran (plus many others from opposition), all lost their temper at times.

Even today when I contact people or hear people own experience coming from different areas of Pakistan, it seems that Pakistan overall is mostly quite and peaceful. But it seems that after BB has put her step on Pakistani soil, at places, as according to media, police are showing their old characters and actions too. Seems they have not lost their touch. I do not know how much truth is there in reports of these actions, though I feel there must be some truth in their actions, but if that is true, than who knows, it seems 8 years of utopia is getting vanished and era is starting where police can break up the crowd with brutal actions, that might send many hiding and many to hospital.

It seems that this is what Pakistanis like, this is what they yearn for and this is what they would get. Brutality, danda, tear gas, tour-phor, police running behind protesters running on road to save their skin, stone throwing and breaking of public properties, burning and killing people on roads ... well ... it needs lot of recall to put down everything ... something that was trademark of Pakistan since its existance ... seems ... Yea tou wohi jagah hay guzray thay ham jahaan say.

Seeing all this, I can feel that all that once reign of President Musharraf would end or if he would change (as it looks like), independence of media (rather, even choice of various media), economical development, tolerance by government, or whatever we have seen in last 8 years would disappear like it never happened, and we would see same days what we have seen before. I wish not, but that is most likely, however sad that may be.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

haven’t seen it. Do you have any more on that? Vid/article/pics…anyting… please

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

^ I am watching it live on GEO....it was a sad state to see how the policeman pulled one of the women by hand and dragged her....it was so sad.

Also GEO showing students rally on PU against JI and due to this the classes has been cancelled.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

JI shouldn't even exist, if you ask me. The true/real JI was hijacked by the wrong people as soon as pakistan was created. Israr Ahmed, was once a president of the party but he quit because even he saw that the party is more a political force than public service. It has since been just the power-grabber-propogation party like any other.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

darnnit! i can't watch GEO right this min. at work right now :(

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

^ Same here, I am watching it at work. :)

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Don't worry brother, that is normal in Pakistan ... have you forgotten the days when cops use to kidnap innocent girls in Lahore to satisfy the desires of Khar? This is what Pakistani history is. Our police when in action and people ruling the country, both are used to enjoying their power in every way (money from loot and plunder, torture to those they do not like and fair flesh) without fear of prosecution or any sort of check. Even people in government let opposition enjoy all this as favour, and no one complains.

Remeber Ishaq Khan son-in-Law Irfan-ullah Marwat and Asif Ali Zardari love for fair flesh.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

It was about time. Now even students are having enough of IJT Terror. It’s never too late though. I expect more of such uprising and I hope for peace to prevail on the longer run. No one should be ever discriminated any more by these morons. THe new Generation is to present us in Pak and outside Pak. Go Pak Go.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Sometimes I felt bad for the role in chitrol delivered to jamaati thugs in Karachi during the era when NSF and Jamiat used to clash, now I dont.

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Their party’s name shudnt be jamaat e islami, they shud name it as jamaate hypocrites

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

That was indeed very sad, It wouldnt have been tht bad if female police handled those women but it was unbeleiveable seeing how police men were literally throwing them inside the van :(

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Agreed:mad3:

Re: Imran arrested after stand-off with Jamaat-e-Islami students

Hmmm, women who go to jaloos and jalsaas must expect the worst handling by Police. Especially, under dictatorship and on top of that when country is under Martial Law. Nor do I agree with, If a police woman would do the same It would be for her to do so. Doesn't make sense for me.
