Imran Farhat.

Despite being dropped previously for playing poor shots and getting out aka Imran Nazir, he blows his chance on return to test cricket. Yet again he played a poor shot. The guy should be dropped and either Butt or someone else be tried as opener.

:nook:

What do you say?

I was surprised when salman butt who had a good paktel series wasn't even included in the initial squad for the 2 tests, he played reasonably well especially against the sri lankans’ and yet he's dropped doesn't make sense.

I fully agree. Salman Butt would have been a waaaaay better choice.

Re: Imran Farhat.

11 runs? I was thinking the same way, but then I thought that I didn’t watch his dismissal may be it was a “lethal” bowling (hahaha) which got him, but now that you have mentioned I do have serious doubt about his ability. I think let him play this test series, if he can’t get his act together then he should pack his bags. I’m sure he will hit a big score in one of the next 3 innings and secure his position.

Sorry to divert the topic, but what happened to Asim Kamal? how was his dismissal ?

Jea, he shud be dropped... and bring in Taufeeq Umar instead of Immy

Farhat has been given SO many chances and has to do anything called match winning against worthy opponents. He doesn't even deserve a place in the A team. But like someone mentioned earlier, he probably has a tagri parchi.

taufeeq is the best choice

I don’t think Woolmar has any explaination for inclusion of Farhat.

Actually he has 2 centuries, one against South Africa and one against India. Its hard for an OPENER to play a "match-winning-inning". He can only provide a good foundation for the rest to build on. Imran's problem is same as some of our other batsmen i.e. consistency, poor shot selection, temprament.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to defend him, I'm not a big fan of his. :p

ur right on the temperament. Yasir, Farhat and Malik to have this problem. However Inziman, Yohanna, Asim and Taufeeq has patience and usually they do wait for the loose ball.

Today the short that Farhat played was not an Test opener’s shot but it was like a slogger like Afridi hitting hard with closed-eyes in the death overs. :smack:

I agree, yet he fails to provide any sort of platform. On most occassions he is gone within 5 overs, caught at slip or by the wicket keeper chasing a wide one. On the other hand atleast Yasir and Salman get decent starts atleast somewhat consistently. And their dismissals are hardly repetitions like Imran's.

well, sometimes you have to play those shots to get your nerve up, especially when you place in the team is shaky

bring in Saleem Elahi, he is good in that spot. where the hec is Younis Khan!!!

Farhat was playing like an idiot. I don't think he realized in a test you have to bat for extended periods of time. Maybe the forgot to mention that the ODI's were last week?
Somebody told me his father-in-law is involved with the PCB. That would explain why he keeps surfacing.

Farhat has to give pak a good opening partnership.. if not.. then GET OUT farhat!! :D

Aaah, there you go people.

Well the way SL are building a commanding position in the second innings, it will be crunch time for Farhat to perform in the second innings or be damned.

Temperament and ego should be left behind in the dressing room.
ODI Players or Test Players are alike in a sense that require the basic but best instincts to revolve around you.
Presently non of the players have above par test player qualities.
Non of the players have any unusual arsenal of stroke selection or tactical know-how to fcae the situation.

PCB selectors got it wrong again and even before the match started
dropping Butt and bringing in Farhat....,,Idiots
I would rather play the ODI squad adding Kaneria rest UNCHANGED for the Test...and would use Afridi for long spells along with Kaneria and Malik.
Inzi is a chocker and has no answers to various tactical moves on the field...

well, he just got his 50, that means he'll hang around

One good performance does not make a world class player.

Imran was playing like he was gonna get out evere ball he played!!
