Do you guys have that almost perfectly spherical kind? you cut around the circumference, twist the two halves away and voila, out come two perfect hemispheres, the seed in one.

Israel has a virtual monopoly on mangoes coming into US other then from NAFTA countries. Besides US has strict protocols against produce imports in general due to the likelyhood of disease outbreaks and pest/organism invasion.

**we have been getting mangies in Canada for the last soooooooo many years. what i notice is that the prices are wayyyyyyyy to high and the quality is not always good. they looks ok from outside but once you cut them they are blackened from inside. the reason being they are mishandled when they are raw due to temperature variation during transport.
the end result...people do NOT buy as much as they would have if the price was reasonable and the quality was acceptable and hence there isn't much profit to get rich overnight.
the quality can get better and the prices can be lowerd if they somehow become available in major grocery chains and not just indo-pak etnnic stores. agree?**

Good news as Pakistan does produce large quantities of Mango. We have a mango tree back home. Love it!

Heard on Dawn news yesterday that the first shipment of 1000kg mangoes has arrived in Chicago.
That there was intense opposition from Indian and South American mango lobbies.
That Hillary Clinton and late Richard Holbrooke played a role in getting mango import going from Pakistan.
And that today there is some function or mango festival in Chicago today to introduce these and then they will be available in regular grocery stores.
When are they coming to my nearest Stop and Shop in the NorthEast ?
