Importing Pakistani Mangoes into the US

Nah pure Pakistani stuff. :snooty:

Faisal bhaijaan, I know a tehlay wala back home who is willing to send the mangoes here in the peeTi. Are you going to get the import license? I am talking about the best sindhri mangoe you have ever tasted... so are you willing to put your money where your mouth is (in this case it must be drooling). :)

Kaleem... I can get suppliers easily... and not thailay waalay but people who actually own the mango farm from where they sell to distributors from whom your thailay wala buys.

However, I am curious why doesn't anyone import them to US? Surely I am not the first one to have thought of it. It must be a customs issue (FDA approval kinda thing, proly). And thats why I am trying to get some feedback (and hopefully hook up myvoice to our mangoes so he will pull some strings and get us the approval).

u do have fruit and plant import restrictions in place in diff areas for diff types of crops to prevent diff types of pests, insects and diseases etc from coming into the country. dont know if that applies here.

my bro in law's family has mango orchards..sindhri, anwar rathol and others..used to get tons of them..

as mirza ghalib said.,,two things are most important for mangos..

anyone care to guess what 2 things?

Pak mangoes are the best I think Pakistan should gift some mangoes to amreeka along with a nice smooth gunna....

maybe u can offer them gunderee is a sample first?

Faisal: This idea has ran across my (bright :D) mind a couple of times as well..par aage kiabh gaya nahin. is it a feasible business proposition if taken at small scale? Apne qeemati khayalaat ka izhar karein please.

:D They didnt survive long enough to get snaps taken. Will try again:)

Please leave something for us poor villagers to eat. btw it won't be a bad idea to import mango products in USA such as mango juice, mango ice-cream, achar, jam, jelly etc. I think they are already available at local grocery stores such as Pakistan market, India Bazaar etc.

I know someone who got a crate of pakistani mangoes from a shop in chicago. and yes, I tried them, it was for real!

haye kiya yaad kara diya hai aap ney Faisal bhai :frowning:
I love mangoes… and seriously, yahan key mangoes mein woh Pakistani mangoes wala maza nahi hai
waisay… :halo: I’d like to be part of the business if you do decide to import mangoes from Pakistan to America.

yes and if you read carefully.. a lot of them (not all but majority) are made in UAE or India, not Pakistan.

If that is true then why does the whole middle east buys more alphonsos than any other mango? Jabtak alphonso khaya nahi tabtak aam ke baareme bbat nahi karana.

Finally a man who knows which are the bset manoges of the world.

^^ not to be offended.. but Alfanso is the only mango which is worthy enough to bring in discussion to Pakistani mango,
Pakistan has a long list of good mangoess.

but I do admit that Alfansoo is a great one :yummy:

^^

As great as alphonso is, there are also other wonderful mangoes in India. Raywal and Payri are excellent juice mangoes. Payri is so sweet, no self-respecting fly will sit on any other mango while Payri is there.

I am going to drop by our local Pak grocer and try the Ratol mango that seem to be liked by so many guppies.

Amusing though, so many Paki guppies run down Indian mangoes without ever having tried one. Reflects more on their attitude towards India than its mangoes, no?
