How do you feel the technological advance impact developing countries?
I’ll post two images, to show the stark difference from where we were as a world, to where we have come even for developing nations.
The first picture is obviously what a well-off business person would have in any given country. Then you look at what is perhaps a common sight in any given country now. But, we’ll focus on Pakistan. While the ultra rich were holding on to brick phones for novelty purposes, or to communicate. The common was writing letters to loved ones across the country/world.
Has the technology benefited the public, or degraded the development of all age groups?
Personally, I feel Pakistan is always behind the curve; just reactionary. What I would love to see develop in Pakistan is a sense of future-education. That is, to start to educate the public of coming changes, technologies, etc. So, that when a tide of change hits the globe, the public is already aware of and somewhat prepared. I’m almost certain that if public was educated on the coming changes that we’re seeing now, there would have been a better use of the technologies available.
We Pakistanis are known to take any technology and turn it into a device that wastes time and destroys mind. We never used the technology fur any benefit. VCR, computer, internet, cell phones …you name it and we found the most useless use of that technology
wide spread use of technology [automated billing system etc] will reduce corruption to some extent. i’ve seen that in India. Indian Railways, Energy and Power companies, telephone companies have shown fairness. now, you aren’t billed for calls you did NOT make, it’s easier to secure reservations on ever popular Indian Railway trains and you aren’t billed for the energy u did NOT use!
However on the other hand advanced countries like USA and also most of Europe now making good use of technology keeping track and recording everything happening on internet…Big Biggot Bro NSA is listening & watching
I personally believe Pakistanis, to some extent, are making an excellent use of technology. There’s a direct link between between political activism and the use of technology. The people of today are lot more aware of what’s happening around them, information has become so accessible, history has become so available. But more importantly, the Pakistani youth feels mobilized and empowered by technology, I mean the youth activism during the recent election campaign was breathtaking. I would even even go as far as saying that one the major reasons why we still have some form of political and social stability in Pakistan is largely because of technology. If there’s one thing that played a pivotal role in kicking out a mighty dictator, it has to be technology.
what is with you all. West has technology. 70% useful 30% money making thing(iphone and family)
Pakistan have western technology…3% use full…97% money making thing.
Dude… we need technology we had in 1800s, or early 1900.. we need to start from there, and made our own things.
Not buying apple devices and thinking we made a short cut and are were west is.
No, that’s not it. My point is that Pakistanis although utilizing the available technology, are not using it for total productivity. If you re-read what I wrote, I stressed that there ought to be education on all levels. Education is not limited to what you learn in school, but also through social media, t.v., etc.
I hope that clarifies what I intended originally. Sorry for any confusion.
This is it! This is exactly what I’m saying. Pakistan has an immense number of talented individuals who are pioneers in the waiting, but only if they were properly nurtured, and provided the right direction, and support (availability of technology, proper use of technology, etc.)
I think technology has empowered the third world. I’ll give you an example:
When the telephone was invented naturally you needed to lay down lines and needed a fixed connection and laying such infrastructure in say hilly or mountainous terrain is extremely difficult.
Now, fast forward when wireless technology was invented this was fantastic for such areas. Having the capability of 3G and other fast speed networks allows more efficient communication. And there is no need to lay the same amount of lines or other infrastructure. Now, the rural communities in Pakistan can access the internet from handheld mobiles or use laptops etc.
Like, using an FX automobile engine to drive a plane?
Like, successfully running an engine out of plain water?
Like, producing the youngest ever Microsoft certified professional? (May Allah swt bless her)
The fact that you were unable to make use of existing technology that made corrections to your spelling mistakes, doesn’t make you any less superior than anybody. Does it?
If only Americans were able to make use of technology to perfection, they really wouldn’t be as obese, be into narcotics, or continue to have the most rapes/crimes committed in their own country for as long as it has continued to.
