On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb tribe will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people according to the Sunnat and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah salaat. (Abu Dawood)
This hadith refers to the death of Mahdi and states only 7 years will be under his rule. The more important message within these hadith are that when he comes he will align the Muslims and when he goes we turn to Isa (AS) for the rest of his time on Earth which will be between 34 to 39 years after Mahdi passes away.
As a Muslim I have trust in the hadith but I do not follow them without question especially just on simple say so. I understand that there needs to be a concerted effort for Muslims to work and educate themselves in the spirit of Islam Iman and Ihsan.
iam not quoting any thing else because all hadiths regarding Abdals are fabricated, hence are of no value. please refer to any book explain the authenticity of Ahadith and/or science of hadith.. as this is not the topic so i'll not go in detail for that.
as i told u it is a great myth, which also says that a person will born from Abu-Sufayan (RZA) family who will lead one the war against Mehdi... so... one can conclude whats happening here

Why don't you provide a ref to prove all the ahadith regarding abdals are wrong and fabricated......or you don't have any knowledge about that subject?

I've noticed you are denying every single hadith and calling it fabricated without providing any proof........if you are so knowledgable and you know science of hadith and you know why this hadith is fabricated then please tell us how with a proof?

You said that the hadith are slient on the death of Mahdi … I showed you that you were wrong. Then you denied the hadith that was posted, saying that it was fabricated.
In this link it shows that most hadith about mahdi are weak, but a few are authentic and a few are fabricated and a few are sound.
It also states that Muslims aught to believe in Mahdi and that he is not the same as Isa (AS) who some scholars have suggested based on one or two weak hadith.

Whether the hadith are silent or not about the death of Mahdi the scholars and the vast personnages from our Islamic history believed in Mahdi coming and we should do the same. The long article above shows why we should not be content and wait for Mahdi.

The Myth of Imam Mehdi...
Comparison with other religions.
All the divine and man made religious has this myth, Hindu call it, Kalki Autar, Jews have Anti-Christ, Christains have Jesus, and muslims have created Mehdi.
If one closely study the characteristics of all above mentioned character and then study the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (SAAW), he can easily conclude that all the attributes do exist in Our Prophet (SAAW). He (SAAW) is the one who had to come to rescue the humanity, and He (SAAW) did his job well, He (SAAW) gave the humanity a system which if followed will save them.
But Jews has denied to accept that their So called Massiah can be from any other tribe, and Christains cannot accept that, their Jesus has to born and raise up to a complete man, so they denied the prophecy of Muhammad (SAAW) and continued believing on the testimonies mentioned in Injeel and Torait about the last Masiha, and with the passage of time they have added many extra qualities (as their books has been altered)...
Now when things went wrong in Islamic world that is transform of Khilafat to Malokiyat, then the Shia's and anti-ummayads created ahadith related to Myth of Mehdi. The prime focus of this charachter was that he will re-establish the rule of Allah and re-originate the Khilafah... and this is the objective of having Mehdi, other wise there is no other function for him to perform (iam not going into details especially what shia accepts from him), some call him reformer, and some labels him as promised masiah...
Now the point is, if Jews or Christians are awaiting for any such Massiah then they are right from there perspective, whereas, we muslims who has the book which tells us about the future and past, about actions and re-actions are following with the same custom.. shame on us. The Book (QURAN) is clear on the notion that, Muslims is the best of the best nation taken out of people which has given the leadership of the world... but this so-called best nation is waiting for a Leader from last 1300 years...who can they deliver the leadership to other.. now either this myth of leader ship is wrong or the aya of quran is wrong.. one is free to choose the option and satisfy himself.
In Islam, every person is has the duty to impose the rule of Allah on the land of Allah ( this does not mean that one should hold a sword and start killing who does not accept the divine ruling) if the rule of Allah is imposed in houses that will reflect out in the society, We the muslims have a book for the guidance we need not to wait for a myth, we are not going to be spared from questioning on behalf of waiting for mehdi... we will be questioned that " I have given u the youth, the power, the wealth, the brain, how did u used it to implement Khilafah on My land".. we need to be prepared for answering above, rather looking for riwaya ( who's authenticity is doubtful).

If one looks at the amount of Ahadith describing Mehdi that have made into Sahih books of Hadith, one has to accept Mehdi's place in islamic theology but if one looks purely from logical and rational point of view, it looks like extension of similar myths that exist in all religions.

Imam Mehdi is one of the biggest myths that has ever hit the world of Islam. full of fantasies, it keeps people of Islam away from striiving and keep them waiting for the promised one. since Christians believe in similar person also, only that theirs will work for the promotion of Christian, I often wonder what will happen if Mehdi (for muslims)and the Christ( as in the second coming for christians) were to come at the same time? that would be an interesting war to watch. religious dogmas do blind many people

If you don't regard their importance and go for Abu Bakr instead of the father of Imam's Hassan and Hussain then of course you're gonna think ISLAM is a 'done' thing and has already been saved. Ok to give Fatwa by son of Mu'awiah to cut of Imam Hussain's head.
The Striving is in the blood of Mohammed's family whose likeness is to the Family of Prophet's that descended from Abraham. Watch your prayers, and understand that if Mohammed's family already exists then which member of them is their leader.

It seems you have misunderstood. There are two difference Abdullah's one of them is the father of Muhammad (the Mahdi) the other Abdullah is the son of the Mahdi.
So he will be Muhammad ibn Abdullah but his kunya will be Abu Abdullah.
very well said, brother Naqvi, Jazak Allah. Obviously, there should be a person from the desendeds of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a leader. For sure, he is Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.). All the Durood we recite goes to him first for his family.
Irrespective of their sects, Muslims throughout the world believe that, "When Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) will establish his government, peace, brotherhood, equality, justice and equity will spread to every nook and corner of the world.

And learn to accept that people differ in their beleifs. It really makes me wonder how people become flamed at others who do not accept their "faith". Your beleif in Mahdi is "faith", there is no factual evidence that he exists. And faith cannot be shoved down people's throat.
