A 41-year-old imam from eastern Norway has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of raping a 30-year-old woman in the southern city of Kristiansand.
The imam, originally from Pakistan, had been invited to Kristiansand by the local Muslim community during the holy season of Ramadan in the fall of 2004.
Aften attending an evening meeting at the local mosque, the imam encountered the woman on a local street. She was intoxicated at the time, and he allegedly asked if she needed help.
She claims she followed him to a room at the mosque, at which point he tried to fondle her and then raped her. The court claimed she was under the influence and depressed, while he was sober and at an advantage.
The imam denied that he raped the woman, but has admitted having sex with her.
In addition to the prison term, the imam was ordered to pay the woman NOK 100,000 (about USD 15,000) in compensation.
His defense attorney, Bjørn Stefanussen, said he would appeal the conviction. “The court has only taken into consideration the plaintiff’s explanation, and my client hasn’t been believed,” said Stefanussen.

Re: Imam convicted of rape
rape=rape simply
Re: Imam convicted of rape
2004? Isn’t that 2 years ago? If the Imam had lied, he could have gotten off scot free…
Probably as a form of redemption he admitted to having sex with her…2 years ago…
And with all this Islamophobic air in the offing, it was time for the lady to collect her fee…
Pretty expensive prostitute by Norwegian standards…
Re: Imam convicted of rape
with imams like these no wonder we have issues.
lets assume that it was not rape, even then, last time I checked, adultery was a big time sin.
dude shows up in Norway and without wasting time he is hump'ity dump'ity...and in a masjid of all places.
I bet he would have lied if he could, i mean he had sex with her..in a masjid...what is now stopping him from lying. I suppose he knew that DNA wouldn't lie.
No excuse for such behavior.
and lajjo, even if she was a prostitute... what was an imaam doing screwing a hooker in a masjid.
Re: Imam convicted of rape
lajawab, calling a rape victim a prostitute is just pathethic...and just cuz she is norwegian..r u gonna call me kashmiri women raped by indian soldiers prostitues too?
so this mullah did admit to atleast have sex with the woman if not rape, even if thats to be believed, why was this mullah having sex with an intoxicated female? isnt alcohal haraam?
Re: Imam convicted of rape
mamooli, I like how you edited my post questioning if it can truly be considered rape if the female is a kafir (sex w/kafir slaves is considred halal in times of war), but kept others saying that the rapist must've learned the trick from a catholic priest and another saying the victim was a prostitute and a whore.
the typical goraphobia is expected to some degree even from a mod, but coming from a woman that's despicable
Re: Imam convicted of rape
stu-pid..ur post isnt even remotely close to reality..catholic priests and women??
…
Re: Imam convicted of rape
Fraudia summed it up well. :k:
It’s quite pathetic. A man of ‘God’ doing it (willing or forced) in a masjid the minute he lands … ![]()

:k:
so when is he being deported?, make sure that he gets a “warm” welcome in this world as well.

Re: Imam convicted of rape
i guess 2004 say ab tak he got tired of controlling himself seeing all the ''stimuli''.
Re: Imam convicted of rape
Men of God are just that…Men of God…
They are neither infallible nor angels…
And Fraudia, when was the last time you ever heard a DNA testimony to a rape being admitted after 2 years?
The most time that any rape victim has in subjecting herself to a DNA sample is 72 hours…
Just because the man is a ‘man of God’, we should hang him from the highest mimbar…
The same judgemental story…A ‘man of God’ stumbles in grace, and other Muslims pile on top of him…
Wallahi, he may be more dear to Allah :swt: for admitting his guilt in court after 2 years when his lawyers could easily have gotten him off without so much as a handcuff…
You don’t trust me? Ask any lawyer about a rape case submitted after two years…
And yet, the axiom that the greater the sinner is, the greater the other person’s sins are to him…That is why the famous Jesus parable comes to mind…“Let him who has not sinned cast the first stone”…
So go ahead, judge and cast the first stone on this ‘man of God’…
I personally know of an instance in which a ‘man of God’ was convicted of something…His lawyers pleaded with him to say something (Untrue), but the man refused…He openly admitted his guilt…The lawyers were dumbfounded…
Re: Imam convicted of rape
Actually Lajawab, it has more to do with him having sex in a masjid. Doesn’t that bother you at all? It’s just as obscene as people doing it in churches. Get a freaking hotel room.
Unless it’s o.k., so much for keeping the masjid ‘paak’ for others to come and pray in.

i have not edited this thread...yet, but i can see why it was removed, its a question for religion and would only derail this topic.
please keep your lame accusations to yourself in future. ta.

your posts are contradicting each other. As an Imam he has a bigger responsibility towards God and towards other people. The public are suppose to trust a religious leader, and he abused that trust. Are you saying, because he admmitted to being guilty, he should be let free?
Re: Imam convicted of rape
So LJ we should praise the imam for his honesty and overlook his crime? Does that apply to other offenses too? As long as u have the strength of character to admit ur crime, the crime itself should be pardoned?
Re: Imam convicted of rape
I find it sick that one individual is actually trying to defend this "Imam".
Re: Imam convicted of rape
Once a man came to the Holy Prophet :saw: and admitted to having done Zina…The Prophet :saw: said, no…You must be drunk…
The man said no, I wasn’t and three or four times the Holy prophet :saw: kept making excuses upon excuses for the man, but the man kept repeating that he did, he did…
As for his admitting his guilt is concerned, no doubt, after 2 years that is a great fortitude on his behalf…No one could have raised a finger at him if he had decided to fight it…
As for the crime, he is being punished for it…
You must keep in mind…He started off with a noble gesture…Helping a drunkard get back on her feet, to get her out of the cold or to maybe feed her…Thousands of reasons, perhaps even to teach her about Islam…
But FF, I know and have seen drunk girls and what they do…Temptation can be very strong and overpowering and the loftiest and mightiest of people have been smitten by it…
He probably took her to the Masjid for her to sleep off her intoxication, she being drunk as a skunk must have started taking off her clothes in front off him…Throwing herself all over him, kissing him, enticing him e.t.c.
I don’t know, for some reason women become very aroused when they are drunk…This man caved in…And I don’t blame him…There is a reason why there is Pardah in our religion…
As for having sex in the Masjid is concerned, many Imams have their dwellings inside the Masajid where they reside with their wives…And as for illegitimate sex, a man urinated inside the Masjid-un-Nabawi, and the Holy Prophet :saw: forbade him and washed the urine himself…
What he did was a sin and a crime…The sin is between him and Allah the crime he is paying for due to his honesty…
You give credit where credit is due…How many of us men would not have resorted to having sex with a drunk woman stripping herself in front of you and throwing herself on you?
And how many of us would have outrightly accepted our guilt kowing there is not a chance in hell of proving our guilt?
Weigh these couple of things before burning somebody at the altar of judgement…
Re: Imam convicted of rape
Lajawab, so she started to strip before him, kissed him, enticed him to touch her and he just couldn’t resist?
