Its Haram according to some ulema, while makrooh for most. So it is bad in all cases.
Give him the benefit of the doubt - it could be a travel pack size of kleenex…
Anywhoz, i am not certain who this Imam is, but rather than pointing fingers at him and saying ‘haraam’ for smoking, why not perhaps divert that attention towards some of his articles or sermons? Maybe he has written great articles or books about Islam that contain a lot of useful information for Muslims and nonMuslims alike. In other words, even if he does smoke, his pen could be mightier than his cigarette.

smoking is NOT preffered in Islam, Yet its not Haram Either.

Good point... Khoee did more to oppose tyranny than everyone on Gupshup put together (by the time he died, he was not allowed to set foot outside his house by the tyrant in question), and all that people can do is draw attention to his vice???

I agree with you 100%. Its not good to criticize people for nothing. My point is that he being a respectable imam was an example setter. Yes he was smoking, watch the video. Its not kleenex…

An imam is a role model, at least supposed to be. Good people avoid munkaraat, such as smoking. Would you like your children to go to such a mosque whose imam smokes? What example is he setting. Atleast all agree that smoking is makrooh...so why would an imam smoke, if he is also preaching these very things.---amr bil maroof wa nahi anil munkar. I am sure such a small thing would make sense to the educated and sane people on this forum.
Atleast say its bad if its bad.
