Of course it IS bad. Period.
It is also not the end of the world. i am just saying - he can be doing lots of good things on the side. Instead of picking on such a relatively small negative act, perhaps we can realize that there positive aspects of his character as well and in the end it is Allah Who will Judge him. Not me, not his parents, not his wife, not you, just Allah.

i really dont think they are smoking, it could be either a pack of tissue as someone mentioned earlier.
Or could just be a work of photoshop i dont think i will believe these ulema smoke till i acutally see a cigarette in their mouth.
You know ..This is what is wrong with us Muslims today. We spent so much time discussing about things which allah wont ask us on the day of judgement. He will not ask if you think ulema should smoke or not smoke. or was he a good ulema or bad one. We as muslims have so much time discussing unessary things that has not outcome. and it does not benefit anybody. Do something productive. which has value on the day of judgement

sunnis like you are really pathetic..you really need to get a life..he smoked, big deal...its not haram nor its makrooh..keep your fatwas to yourself..Imam Khoi was one of the greatest shia scholer ever...he knew more about Islam than all of your 2 cent molvis combined..instead of opening up stupid threads you should blow urself up in a shia mosque

I dont usually write messages here, but after reading this response I must. If these sentiments can come from some possibly well educated person... then may Allah help our nation, which is full of un-educated ones.!! I dont know who blew himself up in that mosque, but I dont think someone who truly fears Allah could have done this. If educated people start differentiating muslims on the basis of sects and point fingers at others and get emotional and have bad regards for others on the issue of an imam/scholar (not even a prophet) smoked or not... forget the rest of the issues... we will be ready to kill each other!!!

Great. Seyed Khoie passed away over a decade ago, when you guys were probably preschoolers (well waqar probably still is) and you remembered to bring up the issue now?
