I'm trying to loose weight

Any idea’s which one works.

I am a man (Punjabi), wanting to loose about 12 kgs. Currently, I’m trying to miss my Dinner and though Ive lost about 2.5 kgs -last week I regained 1 kg???

I know I should do more excercise, but me being me, can only manage 3 walks a week.

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

Exercise and Eat Healthy, its the most difficult but the most effective.

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

don't miss meals, starving urself is not good..

Best thing is to have a three tny meals (bfast, lunch and idinner) and then 3 mini snacks.. total of 6 meals a day..

Dnt expect to do too much xercise if ur just starting.. just start small, if all u can do is 3 times a week, then do that.. gradually (say, after 3-4 weeks) build up to 4 tiems a week , after a week or so add 10 minutes onto your routine , whatever.. idea is to build iit up..

I know its all easier siad than done, believe me, but if ur determined then do it :)

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

Punjabi or no punjabi you can lose weight only if you are consistant and determined to do so.
Dont skip dinner, but its the basic rule of dieting, to make it a habit of taking your dinner atleast 3 hrs before going to bed, eg. if you go to bed at 10 you should be done with dinner before 7.

Dont fill up your tummy too much or starve yourself, your metabolism will be upset either way. Just eat till you feel like "I feel satisfied but I can eat more" at this point stop eating.
Or the best way is to follow the sunnah of filling up your tummy with 2 parts food, 1 part water and 1 part empty.

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

go the hadeeth way..big breakfast (for the brain food), smaller lunch, and even tinier dinner, or even no dinner. and stop eating before you feel full. keep the stomach empty for atleast 2 glasses of water after eating food. make your portions smaller. you'll notice after a while that you can't go back to eating the normal sized portions. (by smaller portions i mean that if you eat one roti, make it 3/4). try to reduce your carbs,...less roti, less bread. don't eliminate it altogether, just less of it. try to incorporate soup in your meal, every day. fluids best friend, and so are fruits.

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

Eating healthily is the main thing...how ever many times you walk is irrelevant if you dont eat right...
As for your exercise...do it before breakfast...you lose more weight but if you dont want to lose muscle then do it after breakfast...
And remember its not just cardio that burns fat...doing weights will help you burn fat as well as building muscle...
Eat a long time before you sleep and make sure you drink loads of water...
And main thing...stick to it...results wont be instant so be patient...work hard and stay committed and that fat will be gone in no time...trust me...

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

Good suggestions by everyone. I'll include the idea that health is a lifestyle, not a strict diet. Don't think of it as punishment. But try new, healthy recipes and foods you enjoy. But cardio exercise it the main key. Keep moving and eat healthier.

but i heard that do exercise after breakfast.
When you exercise on an empty sto-mach you give your
body only 3 choices for fuel: muscle tissue, muscle
glycogen (stored muscle energy), and body fa-t...

Which one do you think it's going to use?

Muscle tissue!

Bo-dy fa-t is the last thing your body wants to use
for energy...

it's saving it incase you have to go very long
periods with out food.

So if you want to bu-rn fa-t, you have to feed your
body before you work it. You don't bu-rn much fa-t
while your exercising...

you can do easy exercise or activity on an
empty stomach .

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

While buying food, check the labels for added sugars( sweetners etc). Plan a weekly menu, every lable has the calories mentioned on it. Men can take upto 3000 calories a day.

Start teh day with a healthy breakfast, like a glass of juice/milk, boiled eggs, or cereal. You can get frozen berries or summer fruits from a super market and can add them to the cereal to make it tastier. Parathas(if you can't resist should be made with olive oil/brown atta and should be taken on weekends only).

For Lunch get hold of recipes for salad's (no i am talking about a typical green salad). You can take brown rice, add some boiled chicken, or some smoked salmon, plus sunflower seeds and a light dressing( this is just an example salads can be fun and the options are endless).

Herbal teas( try different flavours , you will definitely like one or two), plus green tea acts an anti-oxidant and cna help maintain a healthy weight. As for snacks you can decide whatever you want to take.

Ice creams shopuld be replaced with frozen yoghurts which are exually tasty. If you are in a mood for dessert then try weight watchers, I just lurrrvv their choclate brownie (only a 100 calories) and is better then most of the other frozen desserts that I have tried.

Drink lots of water, water helps to accelerate you metabolism.

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

My nuska to lose weight is to
1.start exercise slowly and gradually
2. Drink 1 Gallon of water per day, that will help you to lose unused body water (like 7% ) of your weight in 2 weeks, Its a quick fix

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

Btw malhot, If you have access to a swimming pool you should go swimiing, not only would it refresh your sense, it is also one of the best exercises to loose weight qucikly and not as boring as walking.

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

very good Idea mywish:)

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

unfortunately loosing weight so fast is UNHEALTHY!
you should wait, i know it's frustrating, but the quicker you loose the higher the chances you'll bcome fatter later on.

human body is not made for quick changes, try to loose weight more gradually! 2kilos per month is a healthy target! and remember as a man you should build muscle, they weight a lot compare to fat beacuse muscle is denser than fat.
so you can drop cloth sizes AND have a steady weight at the same time

good luck

Re: I'm trying to loose weight

cardio exercise never worked on me, only power exercise has effect on my weight
so i guess it depends on the people

malhot if walking has impact on your weight, then swimming will be even better, but if walking doesn' really affect your weight, then i suggest weight training, and power exercise
