so basically you're worried that if you tell your dad, your current dating relationship will be spoiled?
you can't have everything. either you carry on, without his knowledge, feeling guilty and having to go through rejecting rishtas for no good reason or you tell him and face up to the fact that things are going to change. if this guy is the want to marry, then i'm sure you can sacrifice a few years of dating.
you never know, your dad might be okay with it as long as it's within limits. or as so many young people are doing these days, have the nikkah much earlier than the wedding so that you can hang out without any 'issues'.

IF the guy is really committed to you, he will not be hesitant about going up on the chopping block in front of your dad. Get the guy to send the rishta, and before teh rishta comes, make daddy-kins his favorite dinner, put on his favorite bollywood movie, and tell him that there is a guy who likes you and that you daddykins will like him.

If you both met in the university, it is a simple story... u can tell your dad ur classfellow has proposed u and wud like to send his family but they do not want to have marriage sooon... then leave the matter in elders' hands and pray that eveyrthing fits well... You need to line up with ur bf of course....

hii again and thank you for ur answers and advices.
We decided to tell my dad, I wanted to tell my dad alone so yesterday I told him. I was sooo nervous and that was little awkward too but now im really happy that I told him.I didnt say that we are dating, I just said that he is really good friend of mine and I really like him and we have talked about future and stuff. Dad just asked few "facts" about him and his family and said that he wants to meet him so he is coming to dinner on Sunday, so lets hope that everything goes well :). Dad just said that he wants me to be happy and have a decent spouse in future. I just dont know yet what he really thinks, he seemed to be okey with this, but I guess Sunday we will see that.
I just had so quilty feeling because keeping secrets from dad and im glad that I wrote here, and everyone thought I should tell so that was really right thing to do and now I really have easier feeling.

Thinking about what to wear, cook and basic things like should I sit beside him on sofa or different sofa and everything like that...maybe im thinking too much! but I just really want my dad to like him and him to like my dad...so I think im not gonna get any sleep next 2 nights :D

We had dinner today with my boyfriend, dad, granny and bro and everything went okey, at least I think so!
Dad and my boyfriend talked even about cricket so it seemed that they got along. Dad just asked his future plans and when he is ready to settle down etc. And dad said that he thinks we should finish studies before marriage so he thinks same way than we do. And at the end my dad said that he wants to meet also his parents so I think that means he liked him. So next step is meeting future in-laws! My granny was little rude but I dont know was it because she likes traditions and that parents finds rishta for daughter and thats why she didnt like that situation.. And that was so funny that my bf sat always like other side of room from me and didn't even talk to me or look me. And at dinner table dad had to say to him that he can sit next to me :D My bf said after dinner to me that he was so afraid of my granny looking badly if he sits next to me :D
But after all my dad seemed to like him so im happy :)
