If your mom was uncomfortable with a rishta, and didn’t want it to move forward, or she wants to cancel/break an engagement/baat pakki/whatever, would you give in and just end it for the sake of keeping your parents happy?

Why would anyone get engaged without prior approval from mom anyway?
