Re: If your Mom said no to your rishta
It really depends on what is the reason
because mom and boy's dad were facebook friends. And mom use to check his status 3 times a week.

You’re saying most men won’t listen to their mothers? ![]()
Re: If your Mom said no to your rishta
If your mom was uncomfortable with a rishta, and didn't want it to move forward, or she wants to cancel/break an engagement/baat pakki/whatever, would you give in and just end it for the sake of keeping your parents happy?
Why would anyone get engaged without prior approval from mom anyway?

You don't need to hold these threads to common standards of logic or common sense.
Re: If your Mom said no to your rishta
Your mom just helped you dogged the bullet ... thank her ... moms are just best

My mom would only disapprove a prospective 'rishta' if the girl was:
1. A weirdo & rude
2. A retard
3.Carrying STDs
4.Fugly
5.Uneducated/backward
6.A hooker
7.Much older than me
8.Had parents that would would leech off me.
Fortunately i'm not into those type of wimenz.
Re: If your Mom said no to your rishta
^How would ur mom find out #3?
Pcg when r u going to give us specific details so when can give u real advice? And I might sound like a broken record but keep saying the istikhara dua and if it is best for u then it will happen either way. Either ur moms heart will soften or u'll see that what she's saying is making sense. Also, it will give u peace of mind that she didnt force u into it (not marrying him) and he's not "the one that got away", but rather "the one that was never meant to be".

Idk but i would require every prospective wife to get tested.
Re: If your Mom said no to your rishta
That's interesting green beret. Because you and your family met me in person few years ago for a theoretical rishta interest, so which of the 8 options do I fall under since that post is clearly targeting me?
This is what's out there ladies.

lmao i don't know you
Re: If your Mom said no to your rishta
Parents generally have more experience in life so they can sense incompatibility at start.
But in some matters their opinion is only limited to their limited life experience.
e.g if a mom wants to reject a guy because 'she thinks' boy will not be able to get good job
because someone else with same education was not able to get job
then this is debatable.
Anyways its always good to do istakhara
May Allah help you

I think the bit in bold applies to a lot of our mothers (especially) though.. I know it applies to mine even though she was from quite a liberal family..
If our parents mostly had arranged marriages or marriages within the family I don't think we can really say they have more experience when it comes to marriages in general..
