I would definitely want to know the background. If something bothers my husband so much, I would pay attention to it.

My wife is my only friend so if she ever asks me to cutoff my friendships, she would not be very happy if I obey

My husband isn't the type to force anything on me, but a few years back he told me to stop being friends with someone....reason being, he felt that over the years I had complained too much about that person, so (I feel now) his request was totally justified. I still chose to remain friends with them anyway and he was okay with that but he told me that he will not hear any complaints from me since I chose to remain in that situation (yeah i still complained :D). A few years later, that person isn't in my life anymore b/c I slowly cut them out of my life for my own good.
Meanwhile I know someone who would say "stop talking to that person/don't go to that place, dont' ask me why just do what I say if you really love me." That's unfair IMO.

I would expect him to explain the reasons why, he is not an unreasonable man, I trust his judgment so yes.
