Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
One thing I have noticed in the answers is that people often talk about wanting to try the same things. The other thing I have noticed is that there are plenty of things that we do that we dont know are unislamic (atleast according to many scholars). You find out these things when reading hadith (if you believe in hadith)and islamic literature. Everyone essentially has a different idea of what is islamic and what isnt, although there are some generalities.
Sometimes, when I am in a defensive mood and people tell me things that I am doing that are unislamic, I will point out things that I see them do that arent exactly Islamic either. And usually, they dont even know its not unislamic, so I have to reference it, which I readily do. But that isnt the point of this thread. hehe
The point is, what you consider islamic or not, and I like the fact that many of you have been quite candid and know what it is you arent willing to do and why.
Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
Code_Red:
It is not hypocritical at all
Having a desire is a human trait, it is natural. But religions dictate boundries.
Islamically this worldly life is like a prison for muslim.
So we must follow the guidlines.,
Morality is very subjective
For many people haveing more than one spouse is immoral, but it is allowed for muslims.
For many people a grown up person is not bound to listen to parents , but for a muslim it he is religiously bound to obey mother, no matter what.
ps. Red wine is Red , so is my heart and your lips
**Taking of Red, I love Red pomegranate juice  it is heavenly **
…i don’t feel it’s a prison…otherwise how would have converted???

Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
Some people feel the world is too crowded, full of nonesense and cruelty …they feel secure in confinement… They feel the strong walls of prison will save them from evils of outside world
WitchDr - I like it fresh , pure and thick as my blood  I am craving to have some right now aahhhhhh
Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
hmmmm, THE $64,000 question.
Now how did you come up with that figure??
Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
Excellent post! :k:
I am short listing this for my ‘bestoftheyear2006’ list.
If you werent muslim or if you came from a family who didnt care what you did, would you do things differently in your life? …
Well, let’s see what is there so attractive that I’m misisng not being a non-muslim …
Meat of an animal that eats it’s own Sh** … ughhhhhh … hello???
Drinking?? Ever tried a beer (try a non-alcohlic one-Odouls) it smells worse than it’s taste, and alcohlic beer is probably 10 times worse … the only reason guys and gals keep drinking beer in the bars/clubs is because it’s the cheapest drink, can get them going all night long without having to get drunk fast (not to mention frequest visits to the Loo coz beer makes them P a lot … now imagine they visit restrooms all night long, no “tahart” wud u wanna go to bed with them? (considering u r being non-muslim) ughhhhhh not in my right mind! Other drinks, including wines, hard liqour … try talking to someone who has had a few drinks, the breath coming out of their mouth … is that what’s so attractive to try?? or that morning after “Blahhhhhh” feeling??
Dancing/Clubbing?? I luv to dance and still do it whenever I have a good friend to go with. Chichora crowd puts me off though. The idea is go dance, not ‘hey check me out’ (which is actually the main difference being a muslim and a non-muslim gal. They throw themselves out in the market hoping someone wud take them! Generally speaking!). If there aren’t any nice clubs around, I prefer to have a dance party at my place, dance till u drop!
Hmmmm what else? Multiple sexual partners?? Well, I don’t know about others but I wud not want every other male touching me every other night or every other month … ever heard of private space … yes this is my private space and u r not welcome here unless u r that someone special I wana share the rest of my life with! It may be a girl thing, but hey, ever heard of STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases). Knowing these (non-muslim) people don’t keep as clean as our religion advises us (taharat, cleaning pu*** hair etc.) … girls, have u ever known of “skid marks” after that wud u wana sleep with them guys … ahhhhh I don’t think so.
Picking up the right partner after dating a few? Well, I don’t wanna wake up 40+ one morning, after having tried 4-5 partners each 2-3 years duration … oh it didn’t work out with him either What people don’t understand every relationship has it’s rosy period, first 3-6 months and then there are conflicts and confusion and arguements. What makes us “the right or the perfect person” is how we handle them without having to insult or dump the other person. Ofcourse there are exceptions! (like at times it doesn’t workout despite all ur efforts)
What else am I missing?? Dressing?? There’s a difference between looking seductive and a hooker, lolzzzz. I dress the way I want to, no biggy.
I live on my own (was difficult for my parents though but they respect you if u can convince them). I take a road trip anytime I want, have travelled around the world, yet being a Muslim
So what is there so attractive that I wud wanna do, if non-muslim, God forbid. I am so content being a muslim, and none of these give me any regret for not having tried. Tempt me!
Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
Thank you

but it makes things sensible, and give sense to life:snooty:

If I wasn't a muslim, I would try becoming a Sikh and try to sleep with a pagdi and see if I wake up at night feeling uncomfortable

Re: If you werent muslim, what would you want to try/experience?
Ya know its funny, xcept for a few things (robbing banks, buddhism, sleepin wit a pagree) pretty much most Muslims do these things already… :hmmmm:
