If you were the groom's sister ....

If you were the groom’s sister, what would you wear for:

  • Mehendi (preference is to a heavier shirt and a plain chiffon type gharara, OR a pishwaz)
  • Baraat (Preference to a full gown with trouser, or anything else that is in)
  • Valima (Preference to a full gown with trouser, or anything else that is in)

Needless to say - PICTURES PLEASE!

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

Sorry can't post pictures ;).

I wore quite elaborte dresses last Dec on my 2nd bhai's wedding. All were by Karma except mayoun's dress.

Mayoun- I wore a gote wala shalwar kameez frm my mom's jahez :D it was fanta orange and gota wala kaam on it was just too good. n I wore paranda with it :D

Mehndi- Long shirt and flared dhaka pants.

Reception- Pishwas over sharara. It was my own idea to go with sharara even though they were insisting that i go with normal pants but in the end everyone luvd the outfit ;)

I didnt want to wear 2 heavy jodas bt in the end they turned out quite heavy bt didnt luk out of place cuz they were balanced outfits :)

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

Oh! It all sounds so awesome. How about you cut your face out, just a picture of the dresses maybe?

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

Its not abt my face, i dnt like anyone copying my clothes either :P haha...too bad i know many others must have gotten same dresses frm karma BUT that's y i always change something abt the outfit to make it unique :D Sorry bt i am very particular abt this ;).

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

^Don't know the designer, sorry.

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

y the gown both days??? u can wear sari or angrakha with chooridaar or trouser for barat or walima too...just a suggestion..:)

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

i wore a churidar with a long front open shirt for mehendi; lehenga with long a-line, front open shirt with tail coat on wedding, and a sari for valima.

your outfits sound good!

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

You're the groom's sister...you can get away with ANYTHINGGGGGGGGGG! This is your family wedding so have fun!

On the mehndi, I would wear an old school gharara...those chatapati type pieces are TO DIE for!

On the wedding, I would wear a long long shirt with a plainer chiffon sharara/lehnga.

On the valima, I would do either a sari, coat style with pants/sharara OR a SUPER LONG gown with either pants or make it so long you dont need anything. Usually, people wear very stylish and formal on the valimas.

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

On my sister's mayun...I wore one of those A-line shirts that dip on the sides with big palazzo pants.

Mehndi...I wore a super long peshwas with pants

Wedding...I wore a long shirt with chiffon sharara

Valima...I wore a sari

There are no rules when its your siblings' weddings...good luck with the festivities and congrats!

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

There you go!

I have already bought the suit for the *mayyun *- Its a sea green front open style shirt with borders with silver kaam and golden gota type work, its beautiful!

I am a little chubby, 5 3' and a little over weight so keep that in mind while you decide.

For the other days, this is the style i want to wear but am unsure of which day to wear which one. Also, colours & fabrics are still undecided.

  • Plain chiffon gharara/sharara and a heavy shirt to go with it, the shirt would be heavy like delicate work all over and the lehnga completely plain. This is just a thought so suggest ammendments

  • A pishwaz/anarkali with a body cut full of kaam and the remaining frock area of chiffon is a little plainer with maybe just a border of lace or kaam. I am thinking of going for maroon or silver or something.

  • A gown that goes to just above my feet..I am open to all ideas here. I am just in love with all those fantastic flowy things these designers are making these days. (i am unable to attach any images right now, but the main idea is something like the Nida Azwer light blue-ish gown with silver border kaam on a front open shirt) I want to get a copy made but which fabric, colours, kaam, style to go for is a confusion for me.

I love the one you posted for Baraat! What a beauty, I’d probably alter the colours a bit since i have already worn white/off white for hsi engagement. Once, you get your post totals, please do post the pictyres you were talking about.

Re: If you were the groom’s sister …

by the way how is this dress made?

http://www.bargello.com/Dark+Old+Mauve+Chesa-228-New+Arrivals-107-4565.htm

are the sides longer than center or its the large gher that is making it look like that?

Re: If you were the groom's sister ....

The sides are longer than the center.
