Well, what else are you supposed to do when you meet people? Talk, of course. Girls in Pakistan are raised that way by their moms. If I sat quietly in a get-together, everyone else would probably assume I'm a snob (I know cuz it happened to me in some social circles I had in Pakistan)
Wonderful. I guess when it gets to the point where people (not me) are saying "vahan pe larkiyon ko kya nashte mein tota khilatey hein"...it might be a bit much.

but I say lets give 10-20 years time and you ll see more complaint threads abt DILs by MILs. Y?
because today's MILs are not familiar with technology hence we see all these new brides of IT age opening threads complaining abt their MILs. So in 10-20 years time the same lot gonna start complaining abt their DILs lol
