If you were a Mother in Law

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

And there was also, I remember, a MIL who wanted to be a DIL, or a DIL who wanted to be a MIL, I forget which. . .

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

I adore my MIL, she is great, have to be honest if she was anything like the star plus drama MIL she would probably get the worst out of me.

i think i do a good job as her DIL, in fact i would love for my own parents to have a DIL like me.

not in the least…
I’d be proud!

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

then adopt me

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

I actually thought about this for a bit before posting.

I think I would want me as a DIL...Im not terribly batooni like all the other girls that came from Pakistan (its like they took a course in Fazool ki Baatein!) in my circle but I make sure I do what I have to do to make people happy around me. :)

Hi FT...just waiting to see when these morons will realize that calling someone moron again and again is wrong..

language

All I would want is my son to be happy with his wife, if he wants someone with my personality then so be it, if not that’s cool too. At the end of the day my dil has to satisfy my son, I wont be the one that has to eat her food everyday or lie with her at night, so as long as she is educated both Islamic and academically (to ensure she can be a good mom to my grand kids) I don't really care.

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

It was the context in which the word was used...that is not allowed here.

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

Wow. Considering how much you all ***** about your mother in laws and the rest of your family, I am surprised you want yourselves as daughter in laws. But I guess when the shoe is on the other foot you may realize how all this back biting is simply negative to your entire relationship.

I object to the word "all"

Why are you always making snide remarks about girls/people from Pakistan? Do you have anything personal against them? being batooni has got nothing to do with coming from Pakistan. My sister talks a lot, I am the quiet type, and we both come from Pakistan. I think you shouldn’t generalize based on a few people that you met.

P.S. As for the topic at hand, I have a feeling that I will be a terrible mother in law:hehe: But I don’t know why I feel that way. My mother in law (in fact all of my in laws) are very sweet and we get along really well. And though I say it myself, I am a good daughter in law. So it’s not as if I have any horrid or bad experience as a daughter in law. Pata nai. Maybe it won’t happen.

Its actually not a snide comment, its pretty straightforward and to the point. I have nothing personal against them but it is what it is. From what Ive seen and the people I have met, girls that come from there talk a lot.

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

^Okay. Fair enough.

Waise I felt this because in some other thread too you were saying how terrible girls from Pakistan are. My personal observation has been that people are the same everywhere…all types of people exist in this world.

Oye, I have thought about it, and I am a very good daughter in law, :cb: so I wouldn’t really mind having a daughter in law like me. Lakin I may not be as sweet and loving as my own mother in law. But it’s too early to say, isn’t it?

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

A DIL is not innocent but the position she has, needs a bit attention, she gets a new environment and new people and new lifestyle around her so definitely she needs co-operation. Generally MIL can better take care of her as they are on the highest post in every home :P. Mostly MILs don't understand and start having higher expectations about their DILs, they shouldn't make their DIL's life more difficult by their strange looks :P ersonally I am very afraid of saas ka relation :P

I dont want to derail this thread by starting another debate here. However, Ive only got my own observations to be able to draw conclusions from so thats what I do. Ive seen some specific traits in girls from Pakistan and thats what I stated. I probably didnt say they were terrible, more so talked about the particular things I didnt like about them which I found to exist in majority of the girls from there.

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

If i were a MIL…:hmmm:

…I would advise my son to purchase his own house for himself and his wife… i can be a bit of a dragon lady sometimes… :o

Well, what else are you supposed to do when you meet people? Talk, of course. Girls in Pakistan are raised that way by their moms.
If I sat quietly in a get-together, everyone else would probably assume I'm a snob (I know cuz it happened to me in some social circles I had in Pakistan)

Re: If you were a Mother in Law

With every thread here eventually leading to 'Pakistani' bashing, I do hope the women here do not have to suffer having DILs like themselves.
