I fear two factors that may denie Yousaf the record:
He will be under tremendous pressure, since he is so close, at the start of the macth 149 runs, was far away, so he may not have that big of a chance, so low pressure, but every single that will make him closer to Richard record, it will put him under more pressure. Hope he will succeed.
Though, umpiring is very decent so far, but I wouldn’t be surprise if an English (Mark Benson) and an Aussie (Darrel Harper) spoil his fun with a poor decision. And I am also sure, if they made such a decision against Yousaf, every expert, every commentator and every spectator will give them benefits of doubt by saying that they are human beings, and can make a bad decision.
My question will be why didn’t they make bad decision against Lara, who enjoyed benefit of doubts in both innings in Multan?
So my these two fears, more of second, make me worry that Yousaf may not get to the record.
Normal logic of Umpiring will suggest extreme care on such a hard pitch and agianst such an important wicket for a team. For a player of Yousaf stature (in present form) and of Lara, umpire should be 100% sure before giving them out.
Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
There were two huge appeals against him in the seven balls he has faced and your Gora umpires didn't give him out. So, don't get your chaDDee in a tango and relax.
by the way, like I said in the other thread, who cares about such records anyway. Did you know if scoring a certain number of runs in a calendar year was even considered a record until two weeks ago? Do you know who holds the most wickets in a calendar year or catches?
Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
CF, we need to make those 200 runs in first two session of the fourth day. Thats too quickly to have enough time ( 4 sessions) to bowl them out. Thats all I care about, I want MoYo to make another century and a century for Inzi as well as he needs to come back into his form before SA tour. That is more important than making..........whatever. Its not even a record to break.
Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
SMOOTH: Totally agree, but while comparing the match converage between PAKvs WI and AUS vs ENG and IND vs SA, I realized many differences first bad picture quality through ARY, bad technical aspect such as Thermo picture, tracker etc, I also noticed that in AUS vs ENG match, if there is one minute left in lunch or tea, Bucknor and Billy allowed Shane Warne to bowl an other overs, and warne took more than 5 minutes to finish that over, while on other hand, PAK vs WI, even 2 minutes left in Lunch or Tea, Benson and Harper call third umpire or match refree to ask if they can come out for break? which is odd, and wouldn't be surprise to see a systemic biased decision when Yousaf is close to thirties or forties.
I totally agree with you on all accounts (in most cases), and personally do care more for a good match, result oriented match than a personal mile stone.
I think if three out of five (Yousaf, Inzi, Malik, Razzaq and Akmal) score 50+, then Pakistan can give tough task to WI, but I wouldn't be surprise if Inzi allow Lara and co only 3 sessions on final day (if Pakistan batsmen could hold on for so long), with a traget of 400 runs. Inzi is not a kind of captain who will give WI, 4 runs per over target and will try to get their wickets.
No matter what target Inzi will give to Lara, they will try to chase, since for them winning mean tieing the series and lost mean lossing by 2-0 rather than 1-0.
Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
If Allah was playing cricket then Pakistan (being only Muslim major test playing country) would have won all the world cups, and may have competed Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia or Iran in finals.

Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
Dude: All I am saying that Allah doesn't favor you because you are muslim and some one else is not, rather you have to have guts, skills, talents, temperament, courage and hard work to achieve something. I don't buy the theory of blaming Allah for our failures and hoping Allah help for success. All creatures are Allah creation, irrespective of their faith, color or decent, and Allah love His creatures equally (atleast I think), otherwise He (allah) wouldn't have let many scientists, researchers to win nobel prizes for such big inventories and discoveries, rather He would have limited all the achievements to ONLY MUSLIM.
So understand it and believe in yourself, hard work, skills, and desire to achieve, rather than just sitting with hopes and fears.
Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
No one saying that Allah will only help him or will write for him becz he is Muslim. I do believe that by saying so, we mean that if it is written for us we will get it, even a non muslim can say (if he believes in this) but that very true that Allah helps, see Yousaf, a very big example... i dont say, he himself says that...

Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
You ever noticed what Kaneria does after taking wickets? :) most of the time, he looks at the sky, i have seen that.... why he is doing that? :) yes he knows who helped him to get that!
Re: If you share same fear for Yousaf record, as I?
What is the quaterly record for most runs?
I mean there must be a standard for records. Don't go after the Ramesh guy of cricinfo or the Indian experts in the box.
They get fever after every decade or so. First time they woke up was when Gawasker made tons of runs and centuries, then Kapil's most wickets, then Tendz breaking runs and century records. OK, that is understandable upto a limit. But Since Tendz broke few records this nation or experts are gone crazy after stats.
Everything has become record now a days. There must be a record for who hold onto the 'nature's call' the longest while on crease.

Smooth: most of websites like cricinfo, go after cheap labor in India, and those guys Ramesh etc, make it as their full time job, so in order to show their worth, they has to do something and only thing they could do is to dig into books and found such stupid records, to keep showing their bosses that they produced so many reports in a year (to get renew for next year).
Instead of Yousaf, if an Indian was making 8 centuries in an calender year, you would have seen many articles on cricinfo, or if an indian was getting close to 1700 runs, you would have seen different mayla in cricinfo.
