I would think if such a situation really happened, that both parties would realize they are extremely unhappy and some change must be made one way or another. I don't think there would be much "Oooh hahaha look who showed up?" type stuff going on.

It can't happen in real life because you'd be looking for someone completely opposite from your spouse. Why would you respond to an ad that describe similar qualities as your other half , whats the point of cheating then?
And if you lied in the ad then she is not actually falling for you is she now? You pretend to be someone else and she wants to have an affair with that someone else...

Not necessarily. Perhaps you're stuck in a routine (as the song says) and your spouse ...is so wrapped up in responsibilities/whatever....that you don't see that fun/carefree side to them that much anymore....the qualities that you fell in love with......and then when you see them in someone else, you're drawn to them.
You've never heard of a person falling for someone who resembles their ex? It coule sometimes be a subsconsious thing. Reminds me of that FRIENDS episode where Rachel falls for "Russ"....the guy who looked and spoke like Ross, but was a much slower/duller version of him.

I dont think it happens much other than in the songs or movies only. even if someone did it, they were influenced by the fanciful media.
