thats not true… UK, Denmark, America etc have all sent in aid.
the only diff is, in 2005 everyone donated instantly cuz a) the death toll was immediately high and b) such a diaster had not hit the nation before… donations were sent through to the pakistani embassy in each country which made things faster
come to the floods and ppl arent as trusting anymore cuz ppl from teh quake are still living in tents… donations just didnt reach the victims. ppl arent donating as easily as they did in 2005… what made it harder initially was teh fact that no one wanted to send their donations to the embassies in their countries… which meant ppl were looking for places to pledge their money elsewhere. now that there are other resources available, ppl are donating…but again not as much…
this could also be due to the fact that ppl have lost their jobs due to recession… ppl on a tight budget are finding it hard to get by meaning we have lost some potential donors…
as to why the countries arent donating like they did in 2005… the death toll isnt that high … sometimes we relate death toll to how serious a disaster is, which results in the world taking notice.
but i dont agree with your statement that non muslim nations arent donating. not true.
I will like to add some more. When God sends an EZaab he always talks about aftermaths.
To me its very clear that even God tells us ppl who are not prepared(in ghafalat) DIE and SUFFER.
Stop misleading people here. USA is still the single biggest donor of aid for the flood victims. I remember you posted an out-dated list of donations showing Saudi Arabia on top of the list.
LOL! 150 million compared to Saudi Arabia’s 112 million. And as of 17 Sept Saudi was on the list. Look it up why don’t ya.
A flood affectee on Aaj TV laid it out simply for the Americans. I paraphrase: You kill us in Drone strikes, you demand we do more to fight the terrorists. Our military men and women die to kill terrorist in your war and this is what we have to show for it. An old man on TV got it right. GS can’t.
yep, keep on blaming others for drone attacks. Who let the dogz in? Your Paki govt. Go blame them. Don't mess with the Americans.
In 90% of drone attacks, a militant is killed. If the militants are brazen enough to keep refuge with women and children, then you should blame them first.
I am not cheering the killing of women and children. I just don't blame the Americans for all that's going wrong. Blame our own people first for letting it all happen.
This assumes that humaritarian aid is motivated or doled out for reasons of compassion. Isn't the reality that it is a tool of diplomacy also?
Regardless of how much or how little the Americans have actually or are perceived to have donated - doesn't it make sense for the sake of international politics and relations for donor countries to tie some strings on the donation as well? And forget sovereignty - jab bachay bhook say mar rahay hain, to maan baap, apnay bachon ki salaamti kai liyay kuch bhi kar saktay hain. Similarly, the Pakistani governement needs to step up and make responsible choices to negotiate (not concede everything) for the aid it needs.
To say that Pakistan stands alone - except for it's faithful Muslim nation counterparts - what's has led to these circumstances and where's Pakistan's responsibility in this outcome?
Here is a suggestion: why don't you send back all the money all the non-muslims counteries have given you and ask saudi-&^^%$*ing-arabia to cough up to make up the diff? They probably lose more that this pocket change overnight in a casino sure they can take care of the whole flood fund.
And one thing only it is that Pakistan can only count on Pakistanis and the Muslim world for support in its time of need.
?
Lets not be ungrateful here. I want to see the same grant from Saudi Arabia if people of Pakistan were burning their flags on street and chanting Saudi kutta hai hai and leaders calling out loud that Saudi hamara sub se bara dushman hai.
We did the same to USA on many occasions but they still turned around and gave us millions and millions.
