you open the door to find a Lady / Gentleman, they tell you that they are from Sick Kids foundation or blah blah blah organization, and collecting money for sick kids, handicapped individuals, cancer foundation.. blah blah blah
what do you do ?
Do you give them something ?
or you say NO and ask them to leave - politely offcourse :halo:
I can’t say NO - it makes me feel really bad
and I would give them something before closing the door.
Most often there wont be any reciept or any paper…
I have never encountered such people/organizations that go door to door asking for donations. I would ask for their business card and a website so that I can donate later. Or you can pay via check by making the check out to the organization, not to the person. That way it won't go into his/her pocket.
yar
Most of the time I am sure that they are just rip offs, maybe if they knock on 50 doors for example, and on an average they collect $2 from even 50% , they just made $50 ..... and that's from just one building....
A gang of 6 - 8 people, hitting a residential area, could easily make a couple of hundred bucks in just a few hours.
I am talking about the EMOTIONAL BLACKMAILING ... how do you cope with that?
Chachoo, you have to be dheet like me. Feel guilty about it for a minute, then move on and get back to doing whatever you were doing. I know it's difficult but it's doable.
if someone come on your door for charity then you must've give somthing. Because under islamic rules you should do. I dont want someone to return without money or may be with other things which they want or they request for it.
How could you say no?! Not only to the little girl in her cute little pigtails that so desperately came up to your front porch and asked you for a donation, but to that one or several kid(s) that you could have helped had you just been generous and given a donation.
ohh...oh I see what you're saying. Yea I guess one has to be a real genuine creep to do something like that... =( And the reason some people feel weary of donating to official organizations because they might be one of those creeps is all their fault too. :(
Well maybe you can ask for more information if you're suspicious and see for yourself. If they do something where you can donate online/through the mail, then offer to do that so you have more time to think over how much you'll donate and if the organization is even legitimate.
