If Muslims loved their faith like Sikhs...

…Victories might come more often…

It was a very renowned scholar who said that for whatever the Sikhs may be, Kaffir or otherwise, their adherence to their creed is something which Muslims should respect and envy…

And nowhere is it more evident than in this newsstory…

I can bet that the majority of their women would have more dignity and class than many Muslim women of today…

Two Sikhs Win Back Jobs Lost by Wearing Turbans

Two Sikhs who were told they could not wear turbans on the job as traffic enforcement agents will be reinstated and allowed to wear their turbans, their advisers said yesterday.

The two unrelated cases followed different routes through the legal system but essentially involved similar allegations: both men said they were denied exemptions from police uniform rules for their turbans, a central element of daily religious practice for Sikh men. One, Amric Singh Rathour, was dismissed. The other, Jasjit Singh Jaggi, left his job.

Mr. Jaggi, 36, was the valedictorian of his class at the Police Academy. He filed a complaint with the city’s Commission on Human Rights. Mr. Rathour, 28, sued the city in federal court on grounds of religious discrimination.

The Police Department decided not to appeal the commission’s decision, the city’s Law Department said. Mr. Jaggi, who has worked as a motel manager in Killington, Vt., since he walked off his traffic job in 2002, said yesterday that police officials called him on Monday and offered to reinstate him and work out a way for him to wear the turban on the job.

This is a link, but search more on Google to read more about this man who placed his faith far before his needs…

Truly a great man…I have developed a great appreciation for the importance Sikhs place in their beliefs…:Pagri:

I too have noticed this about Sikhs.

There is nothing I hate more than a person who does not stick to his usool, his tehzeeb and rawayaat when he belives it to be right.

I despise people who will bend in any direction with the wind, chartey huwey suraj ki pooja karney waaley loag, like those Hindus.

That’s the reason I respect Sikhs despite them being our enemy and kafir.

Lajawab - Since you don't like me no rmy name, am I allowed to add my $0.02 in your thread or should stay the hell out? :)

Here man, I dedicate my 500th post to you! :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Lajo thats great. There are many of us that would fight for our right to wear the hijab to work. I know many friends who have.We dont need a Sikh to tell us to fight for what we believe in.

But nice to hear those guys did stand up for themselves.
:o

These days it's hard for young Sikh boys to keep their turbans as well as beard with all the peer influence etc .

I have seen some shave their beard off and trim there hair.

But some keep on with there beard and turban, from young to past teens. I respect these persistent youths for this. :Pagri: :Pagri: :Pagri:

That's really wonderful.

Interesting, though, how you use an uplifting story to insult Muslim women. Have you no sense of shame?

Nadirji, I object to your words, that….

How many Hindus accepted Islam during tyranny Islamic ruling history of India, excluding only a coward section, Hindus rejected to give up?

Its Ok, that Hindus do not like the foolish do and die struggle for fundamental religious dogmas, but it does not justify your statement.

Sahar, why do you think it was an insult to you. Are you prejudice against other religion? The guy was impressed with the story of these 2 sikhs and so he mentioned it here. I don't see any reason for you to get upset. Btw, if people can not mix up in a society they should not be living in that society. This whole religion thing is a product of ignorance and should be abandoned all together. human beings are better off without religion.

Re: If Muslims loved their faith like Sikhs...

Sher -- I am not at all prejudiced against other religions. I was objecting to the tone of the comment below.

I'm not sure where you see people unable to mix up in society. I think it's really important to become an active member of the society in which you live.

Sehar02 Lajwaab did not insult any muslim women nor he criticized our religion infact he just presented a case of adherence to one’s religions (sikhism) and compared it with ours.

Its true that the Sikhs boy who come here or leave thier homeland shave thier heads off and dont wear turban etc..but thats just a small percentage of them who fell victim to such complexes at they cant mingle with the other people with beards and turbans on the head . But its a known fact that inspite of all that they adhere very close to basic rules and principles of thier religion.

There are many sisters who have failed to understand the actual meaning of Hijab. We have many Muslims sisters who are more concerned to please themselves and others than Allah (s.w.t.). Let us not forget the purpose of our existence, which is to cultivate love and affection for Allah in our heart and not for anything else. How can we create that love when we disobey Him? Adoration and affection come from the heart and those who truly love Allah (s.w.t.) will . Hijab gives the women an air of authority, dignity and respect. Only those who are well behaved can expect admiration and high esteem from others and definitely, those who try to attract men can never be called a well-behaved person.

The muslim community here in UK especialy Pakis, are very hard to get along with, compare to Indians. They don't make friends with non-muslim people and force their kids to do the same.

Sher -- That's too bad. However, I know several Pakistani-British folks, and they are all well integrated into British society (while maintaining their own individual identity).

Perhaps I read too much into Lajawab's comment (the one I quoted above). However, I don't think that an article about Sikh MEN and their fight to wear their turbans serves as proof that Sikh WOMEN have more dignity and class than Muslim women. First, there's faulty logic there. Secondly, what a silly thing to compare. It is ridiculous to even attempt to make a generalization about that. Sikh women have dignity and class. So do Muslim women. There's no evidence in the article or in any of his post that supports that claim. In fact, it is reprehensible for a man who calls himself a devout Muslim to make generalizations that insult Muslim women. Muslim men should protect and support the women of their communities. Not insult them.

Certainly. I don't doubt that at all nor did I say I did.

Yes. So? As you said about Sikh men -- even many of those who abandon the turban adhere closely to the rules and principles of their religion. So how can you say that Muslim women who do not wear traditional hijab (as defined by SOME people) are any less respectable than those that do? And what does that have to do with the article?? That's my main point. I'm happy for the men in the article, and I commend them for their continued struggle and faith. I also support the civil liberties of each individual and the right to practice religion.

If Muslims loved their faith like Sikhs... they would condemn extremists like OBL instead of praise them.
