A - It should build and test a nuclear bomb as soon as possible.
B - In order to buy time, it should keep supporting the anti-US fighters in Iraq with money and weapons. As long as the US goes deeper and deeper into the Iraqi mess, just the way it is now, the country it serves the best is none other but Iran.
C - Press on with its “game” of diplomacy with Britain, France and Germany. This buys them time. At this point, they should not trust any country for support, not even Pakistan. Only one goal they must and they should pursuit - to build a nuclear bomb.
D - Keep up the good terms and understanding with the new government in Iraq. It will serve as a good cover for them for giving all out support to the fighters. Remember, the enemy is not the shias, or the sunnis, or the Kurds. It’s the neo-con Zionists.
^ I think something is cooking, especially after the Pakistani prime minister took up this issue with Kharrazi in Davos. It seems like Pakistan is under immense pressure from the US to provide coveted support for the attack or help in intelligence gathering in Iran.
The only choice Iran has at the moment is to build the bomb, and do a nuclear test as soon as possible. The US will not be able to attack after that. Any such action would put Israel in grave danger of being completely wiped out.
^ Well, there could be several reasons. But, most importantly, the dynamics of the field change quite drastically if a country has nuclear weapons. In the recent history, there hasn't been an all out assualt on a country with nuclear weapons. Also, take North Korea as an example. They went ahead and built nuclear weapons clandestinely, despite their assurances to the world community that the nuclear weapons program was not active. It was a very smart move. Not only they have a strong bargaining chip, but also, they can thwart any adventure from the US in a befitting manner. All of a sudden, now the US has to make every effort that diplomacy is successful in curtailing North Korea. No longer, they can afford to think about confronting North Korea with force.
There maybe a dozen reasons which may compel the US to take some kind of action against Iran. From a strategic point, possession of nuclear weapons by Iran will make that task gravely challenging for any country. There aren't any reliable anti-missile systems in place anywhere in the world. As a last resort, before going down, Iran could always launch a batch of 40-50 missiles towards Israel, and only one would have to be nuclear. And as long as there's a remote possibility that such a thing could occur, the US will always seek the path of diplomacy, and not aggression.
Iran is too good a counter balance to the sunni wahabi world to be disposed off. Continue looking out for the artificial and discreet saber-ratling between Iran and its supposed adversaries Israel and US, while silent covert cooperation a la Iran Contra......
Iran will take two-three years to complete its nuke weapon. However within that time period, Israel (which already has the green signal from U.S) could wipe out iran’s facilities.
I think Pakistan has already provided all the intelligence that americans needed.
I seriously dont think americans will attack Iran at the moment. However this could change in a matter of few months.
If americans decide to use force, then I also dont see american forces going inside Iran like they did in Iraq. Its impossible. I only see missile strikes and CAP missions taking place. Much like Gulf War I.
if iran really wants to fend off an attack it should nuke pakistan or any other country in the region that will help it's enimies. lets be honest...if u r going to f**k me over then i'll make sure that you go down with me. well i guess iran did that with pakistan since it reported that pakistan was helping them with nukes...then can't blame pakistan for f-king iran up. oh well so much for the unity of ummah.
The reason which makes Iran a desirable target for attack by the US or Israel is none other but its nuclear ambitions. Even if you think that Iran maybe serving their interests by providing a counter-balance to the sunnis and wahabis in Middle East. Under any circumstance, they would not want Iran to be a thriving nuclear power with fledging enrichment facilities. At the moment, Iran seems quite adamant and blatant in its desire to proceed with nuclear enrichment. They really haven't given any firm commitment of halting the process all together.
Personally, I don't trust the Irani government as to what it does. Just like any other Islamic one including Pakistan. Actually, they are the worse of lot when it comes to selling out. And the whole thing is making Pakistan incredibly nervous also to have a big mess like Iraq right at their doorsteps. In case Iran goes down, Pakistan will be in a lot of trouble itself with two screwed up westerly neighbors - Iran and Afghanistan.
Brother Abdullah I think it is a fabulous idea. Iranians can settle their old score with them Iraqis and other Arabs. They still remember what Sunnis did to Shias 1479 years and 5 months ago. They beheaded their young children (Asghar and Zainab) and chopped the head of the grandson of Hazrat Rasool-e-Pak :saw: . Do you think they have forgotten about that? By acquiring nukes, they can also keep Pakistani Sunnis from killing Shias in mosques. And finally, they can settle some old scores with Iraqi Sunnis who used chemical weapons on Iranians during the 10 year war.
I see that as a pretty good outcome. Iranians and Israelis don’t have any conflict (well, not counting what Persians did some 3000 years ago…that’s too old), and Iran possibly can’t think of pissing off the US… so I guess it will turn its’ guns to Sunnis that it hates with passion. I can’t wait to see some action.
well, now they will have a chance, wont they? Do you think that if they had nukes in 1980-87, they wouldn’t have used it on Saddam? and Saudis (the supporters of Saddam) during the war over Shyt-al-Arab? I never said Iranians are crazy.. They are the smartest and most cultured people in that region, with a very rich history, that Arabs can only dream of. Do you know that Iranians hate Arabs with a passion? Wait until they get their bomb, they will teach them a lesson. Mark my words. Their getting the bomb will also mean that Pakistanis supported by Wahabi Saudis won’t be able to kill Shias while they pray in their mosques. Say Amen to that.
so, you fully support Iran's stance on achieving nuclear weapons? Well Amen to that.
However, what they do with nukes once they get them is debatable. Right now, Iran has some bigger fishes to fry (if they intend to use them that is). Using nukes on Arabs is a waste of nukes. I doubt its high on thier priority list.
Watch for the new understanding between Iran and Iraq, now that Tehran’s chamcha Abd Al-Aziz Al-Hakim is about to become the Iraqi leader.
The Iraqi election may well be the biggest diplomatic victory that Iran has ever achieved. Saddam Hussein, the dictator next door who ruined Iran with his war, is gone. Shiite groups nurtured and funded by Iran are in power.
Congratulations Tehran, for playing the Great Game so well
^ it werent so much as Iran, but Seyed Sistani that played it right. Made sure elections were held as early as possible, didnt allow foriegners to write the constitution, reigned in the shia militia and sent everyone out to vote. Iran just sat back and enjoyed the show.
Al- Hakim is backed by Iran, whereas Allawi is backed by saudi. I know which one i'd rather have as a leader.
I’m not sure if it is out of sarcasm or your “love” for Iran’s neighbor… but you sound like a 10 year old. That’d be the worst thing Iran will ever do i.e. nuke its neighbors (esp who already have nukes).
