Granted, they are isolated due to america against nuke program and not enough regional friends [though now they have one ally, Iraq], but they are an unpredictable bunch. The lack of regional allies in the past was one of the chief reasons shah courted pakistan.

shah courted pakistan mainly because of CENTO, and pakistan gained a lot from that relationship as well
and since when is pakistan "strong sunni" esp. when even many of the leaders of this country are shia ,qadiani etc and people are immersed in bidati practices ...this is what "...pakistan" has become

I don't think any country will win. Iran is prepared to fight for the long haul and lose millions of lives whereas our generals have become fat cats and are only capable of making money rather than fighting.
