Re: If husband keeps you happy, would you let him marry again.
I know of an imam who I heard married a second wife. The first wife, although religious was heartbroken. When I saw her, u could see the distress in her face. Although women are aware that Islam allows men to have up to 4 wives......very few women are comfortable with the idea of sharing their husband with another woman. Imagine the mental/emotional agony of her picturing him in bed with another woman......and wondering if he finds her prettier, better, smarter, etc.
I highly doubt that I would be able to stay in a marriage if my husband were to get another wife. Because I feel that try as he might, he would never be able to treat us equally (as encouraged by Islam in the instance of multiple wives). As the Quran says,
"Marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one." **Al-Quran (4:3)
"You will never be able to be fair and just among women (wives)...."** Quran (4:129)
It's hard for a man to treat his wives equally........be it financially.......and emotionally. You can tell when somebody is being more favored, more acknowledged, and receiving more attention than you.......sometimes the person is not even aware that they are giving one person more attention over another.....through things as subtle yet noticeable as body language. For those women who can handle a second wife .....more power to them. For me.....I believe I'd rather be on my own.
