You know, while muslim women are very aware of what is possible and allowed, sadly enough, we don’t quite like the idea of our husbands having second wives even though it is allowed. It’s just the way we are… it’s hard to share and imagine your husband being in someone else’s bed. I also know that if a man found out his wife liked someone else romantically or was cheating on him, he can give her a divorce in a few seconds. However, the guy can marry his mistress and make it all halal. So yeah, there are some sad realities and we just hope and pray we or our loved ones never have to go through this situation.

I think I speak for most women here although I personally know of a lebanese friend who was brought up with the expectation that her husband will marry his 4 so she was always OK with it..

Wow this is the most honest description of the situation I’ve seen! It’s true God gives everyone different tests and in Allah’s infinite visions the test for women is harder, it might mean that our reward will be greater as well. Only Allah knows best. Allah allowed multiple marriage for men both as a responsibility and as a mercy. Some scholar’s claim that men have the opportunity to satisfy their desires with multiple marriage because they have the additional responsibility to take care of the family, in that scenario one could argue that when men and women work on an equal plain then that special benefit is no longer valid. In the end, the best way to expand a population is to allow male polygomy because a man can impregnate multiple women at one time. When you coniser the main purpose of a momen’s existance is 'Dawa" or spreading the faith to non-blievers the idea of multiple marriage makes sense ( a way to increase the number of muslims). Not that all this makes it easier on the ladies who have to deal with it! but Allah knows best and has the reward for everyone based on their life.
