You are right on first count . He will be questioned on the day of judgement if he did not treat all the wives equally. Quran has imposed this condition. On the second question if she cries because he abuses her yes he will be answerable. But if she cries for the sole reason that he married another woman then it is not his fault. Being a Muslim woman she needs to understand that it is permitted by Allah.
