As for the crying, sometimes its inevitable. You see strong athletes cry after achieving or even missing milestones, emotions get the best out of the strongest at times.

regardless of whether he breaks down and cries or not.....nothing will change the fact that you are unable to get together, right?
then who cares?
count your blessings and move on.
and by blessings I mean:
1. if he is putting an act on then at least he is leaving you with the impression that he cares truly, madly, deeply or
2. since there is no future at least he is ending the relationship before it went too far.
