If I leave the office I have to go in an armored car.
I can not walk anywhere outside our compound.
My compound is two buildings with high walls, razor wire and armed guard. I live in a ****ing prison. I need some form of physical activity.
My leisure time is spent reading books, watching tv, working, surfing the net and gaming. Cooking. Cleaning. 95% of my activity involves me sitting on my ass.
Not good. The most physical activity I get is climbing the damn stairs.
u must really enjoy tht job of ur's to be living in a prison, I for one couldn't live like tht.
can u not get a treadmill in Afghanistan? or mayb buy a skipping rope? or how about following a fitness video on youtube? u could follow different videos everyday so u don't get bored
You don't need equipment to exercise, you can use your own body weight. Check out "VinceDelMonte" on YouTube...he has some pretty decent videos.
But yeah, you do need to incorporate some form of cardio....like CE said, maybe take up skipping? Start off by doing a little, then gradually building up to a level you're comfortable with.
what about doing kick boxing for cardio and ofcourse strength/resistance training. You don’t need special equipment for it just a resistance band and you can do lunges, sit ups, crunches, push ups etc right in your own home. I think elliptical is a better option compared to a treadmill it seems to burn more and also works more muscle groups. But who am i to talk, not like i do any of this
how many floors does yr office building have? You can go up and down stairs many times a day. Its definitely a healthy exercise. Atleast yr thighs and butt will get in shape.
Combining cardio with weights is more effective. And you don't necessarily need bulky or complex equipment for that.
Jump rope for 15 minutes....gradually increase to 30-45 minutes (get the heart rate up)
If you have access to weights....lift weights. You burn more calories while you sleep if you lift weights before going to bed...as your body uses that down time to repair the muscles.
Apart from going up and down the stairs...if you can manage to get a step stool, that can be used for cardio as well...depending on how fast you go. Crunches can be implemented for toning. You can even look up demonstrations on youtube...and add weights to the crunches and other anaerobic exercises for more resistance. Maybe play some sports with the coworkers?
I've read that "hippy food" ,as you like to call it, (particularly green tea) aids in weight loss too.

Need some ideas for physical activities.
Push ups (Helps pretty much every single upper body part, triceps, biceps, shoulders, chest, forearms as well as abs)
Sit ups (Helps your legs that includes thighs, calves and your abs area)
Pull ups can be quiet the handful too (provided you have a rod you can hang your entire body weight on to) It helps your wings area, triceps and biceps.
Climbing stairs, as ridiculous as it may seem, it really does help the legs, calves and the abs area, not mentioning how your stamina improves greatly
any particular body part you need ideas for or anything else for that matter, your fitness expert wannabe Broseph is right here. :D
i have a feeling CM will say that my dance idea is gayish for a guy to do......whateva :p
i still think colorfuleyes made sense when she said that a treadmill where simple walking for an hour while you watch TV will give you plenty of exercise.

Dances are actually quiet helpful, even if its free styling like 2pac, Eminem does, but for guys apart from helping lose calories (energy) and gaining stamina, it wouldn't help much considering it won't strengthen out any particular muscles (apart from perhaps the leg area)
A treadmill is good for losing energy and strengthening the legs but apart from that, it really doesn't do much for guys.
Try taking up a sport. Something like basketball which is stop and go will keep your metabolism up for hours; you will be HUNGRY for the next two days if you have a nice run of games.
Besides, playing sports is so much more fun than boring old treadmill.
Oh I am also alone. I am the only international here so from around 5 in the evening till 8 the next morning I am solo. My two roommates in the guest house are on leave for the next two weeks. So B-ball is out of the question as are any other team related sports.
I would recommend you take up boxing and some cross trianing regime… do you have access to a basic fighters gym or such equipment as punchbags and if possible a courtyard with a lot of rocks in varying sizes?
It might sound silly but you could use the rocks for wieghts and for practicing throws, builds up arm strength. You can run circuits round the compound and work out a usefull drill with a punchbag… dont just punch it but knee and elbow strike too utilize the heavy bag like a real person and strike it with all you got…
Skipping is great way to get all round co-ordination and helps condition you too.
And as for dances i recommed you perfect this excercise it’s not only a great thing to do in spare time… but it’s a usefull skill to posses in any society and if you can bust a few good moves in the dance floor it will help you bust a few heads in a fight, timing and footwork are just as important as striking techniques.
Besides it’s good to explore training in a limited environment becuase sometimes you dont get access to sophisticated equipment… still many a prisoner trained hard and managed to outrun and outfight a prison guard come escape time.
Best of luck in your training CM bhai…
Oh and since you got access to the internet theres a host of martial arts skills you can pick up online… not just youtube videos but actual websites of Martial schools… it’s perfectly possible to develope yourself into a fighting fit individual in such a constricted environment as a prison… even without a fancy gym the best fighters work with what they have around them.:k:
