Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

So there’s are carnivals in our mashies and people brain different stuff to sell on their stalls.. I mthinking of doing one thing too
have u ever done a thing like this? Any ideas?
i m particularly going to make baked stuff like cupcakes brownies or cheesecake…
put I m all blank how to start n all.
how much to bake
that booth costs $50 or $75
wt flavors should I bake n how much should I do… N how to carry stuff their, hmmm

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

It’s more like a bake sale..

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

if you can find out what other stalls will be carrying then you can be at an advantage…
figure out what will be a reasonable amount that you can expect people to pay for your baked goods…this will help you determine portion size.
find out how many people typically attend the fair to determine how much to bake…you will have to use some judgement here because if there are other stalls with baked goods then you will have competition and you don’t want to end up with left overs.
if you want to break even and perhaps make a little money then set a sales dollar value that you want to achieve.

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

dunk the maulvi?

what is the number and makeup of the audience?
that would determine what type of items they will buy and how much?

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Next carnival will be in summer in June.. So have no idea what other stalls will be selling… This time wheni went these .. There weren’t sy baked goods
ther were some fried food, brisket burgers, some kids stuff like cotton candy mall. Some smaosas , n momm drinks and stuff
Mm I think if I make cupcakes people will pay may b $2 each…
Over there Brisket burgers were $6
cotton candy $2 n so on..
Ok I will find out how many people. Attend. That’s a good idea… Let’s see…

so thts y I was thinking of cupcakes brownies or maybe cheesecake

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

$2 for a cupcake is a lot unless those are some fancy Magnolia or Georgetown designer cupcakes. I know it’s for a charitable event and people should give khulley dil se, but the price should also match the item.

Are you the proceeds from the bakesale and other stalls supposed to be donated to the masjid?

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

^ this! Are you paying the masjid to rent a stall and you will keep the revenue or you planning a stall to raise funds for the masjid? I’m on the planning/events committee for our masjid’s annual carnival picnic. Depending on your situation I can give you some tips on what has worked will for us in the past.

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

^ That actually makes a world of a difference. If I knew that I was being charged $2 for a cupcake and the money was going to masjid’s fundraising activities, I wouldn’t blink an eye and I’d buy a dozen even if I didn’t like cupcakes.

But if the money is revenue for the person renting the stall, then I will go in as savvy consumer and expect value for my money. I’ll pay $2 for a cupcake, but it had better not be a darn good cupcake.

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Oh I’m sorry for not giving details..
yes I will pay the rent to masjid to buy a stall n will kepp the revenue.. It’s not a charitable carnival…
nd $2 a cupcake Is too much? Mmm I won’t be baking it from a box. The will home made… With some frosting n some fondant decoration…
mm I think I’ll have to calculate the price n these bake some stuff so I can calculate the price?

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Oh plz Iwould love to have tips from .u…
So it will be a summer carnival for families.. There are other stalls too but I haven’t seen baked stuff often… N I’ll be keeping all the revenue…
i m.sorry I m missing any details…
thanx in advance

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Baked stuff! I love baked stuff at these things…cookies, mini cupcakes, finger food that’s easy to carry around, etc. I went to one where they had an elotes stall too!

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

…and send them to meeeee? :sheen:

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Ok… So I m thinking of making 2 flavors , one will be chocolate n other ?. Wt should image?

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Ok, sorry for the late reply…

At our masjid carnivals, they are fundraisers for the masjid itself, so all revenue from stalls, games, booths and activities are for the masjid itself. Last year was the first time we allowed people to “rent” stalls , and they were mostly clothes/kappray. We’re not allowing that this year because the two people who had their own stalls last year didn’t make anything and were not keen to do it again.

Given that your situation is different, a bake sale would be a good idea. My masjid youth group, for which I am an advisor, just had a bake sale 2 Jummahs ago, and we raised $675 for our youth group activities!

We had a mix of all homemade stuff…cookies, macaroons, cupcakes, cakepops and muffins. We also were selling Capri Sun juice pouches. Everything was priced from $.50 to $2.00 a piece.

I would advise keeping a variety of items and price points.

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Can you please more details on your bake sale? Thanks! :))

Me or OP?!

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

My daughter’s eco-awarenes council at school is having a back sale next week. The money will go towards the purchase of tickets to an educational seminar that will teach them about conserving water and natural resources.

This weekend we will be baking cake pops (cuz the ones we did last year were such a hit at her school and my nephews that the teachers were buying them) in the shape of little globes. They will be coated in blue to represent water and she plans to pipe on the continues in green and accent with some brown.

All in all the cost will be about $20 for supplies and 3 hours of my time. This should render about 75-80 cake pops that can sell for anywhere between $.50 to $1.00 each since most of the buyers are likely to be kids.

Re: Ideas for masjid carnival stalls

Last year I participated at my Masjid carnival and sold “Bun Kabab” the desi style. The “Bun Kabab” was made with fried “Aloo keema tikki” dipped in egg wash and served in an unsweetened bun with onions, green mint, and cilantro chutney. It turned out to be a great hit. It was sold out in a few hours, and I made over $300 for the Masjid….. MashAllah!
