Ideas for change

Re: Ideas for change

I would like to see every person take responsibility for another human being aside from their own family.

Its something I will do this year and would like to see others do the same.

Responsibility could be financial, spiritual, emotional, etc.

Re: Ideas for change

I wish Muqawee becomes the dirty dirtyest dirtyest of PTI in Sindh.

As for Pakistanis helping out each other, I have see Pakistani do ‘kaat’ of each other so it must be the genes. I have seen really duffer indian get in companies just because their fellow Indians gave them a good reference.

Re: Ideas for change

Horror story? I thought it was a documentary on new scientific discovery. 100% medically accurate :hypo:

Don’t watch HC2, I heard it’s terrible.

Re: Ideas for change

I didn’t mean to imply that I am sheltered or dependent on others. I work full time and the nature of my work is such that I get to network and socialize with a lot of people which is great. It’s just that when it comes to socializing for pleasure, my parents tend to shy away from that. To them, any free time from work should be spent with family. They are fine with meeting family friends, so they are not anti-social. But suppose I wanted to join a gym and start going there on weeknights after work, they would have a problem with that because we have a treadmill at home and they would worry about my comings and goings.

I wholeheartedly agree with you that if the environment allows for it, we should raise our girls to be self-sufficient, well-rounded, and confident.

That’s a great goal, Reha. What do you think about NRPs who routinely provide financial support to their less than fortunate relatives in Pakistan? I think a lot of us already do this, but if we can, we should always strive to do more. I used to volunteer at a hospital in the long-term care ward for seniors. The task was so simple. Just bring them their lunch tray and talk to them as they eat. They really appreciated the human touch, as their own families hardly visited them.

Re: Ideas for change

The govt doesn’t care about increase in population, they only care about the money they’re generating from the whole immigration process and obviously the immigrant will bring some money which he saves in their banks and then he pays taxes also and usually till some point at start he has to do a labor job. So the govt is making money, getting an educated labor hence the overall deal goes in their favor.
And for upgrading it’s really hard for the person who immigrates with his family unless he have loads of money because his whole energy lost in feeding his family apart from the single guys like me thankfully, still manages to upgrade their selves but still faces hard time to get proper jobs.

Re: Ideas for change

Madz, that comment wasn’t aimed at you personally.. sorry if it came off that way..

Re: Ideas for change

Family is family…we should always take care of each other and out of sheer loyalty as well as love…we do. Its a different animal altogether.

What I am referring to is reaching out to someone you’re not even remotely connected to. Someone you have no real obligation to help aside from the sheer desire to help another human being. No obligation or responsibility. Its not easy to do this…requires us to have bigger hearts, sometimes bigger pockets and patience. However, its a test. A test to see if you really are growing as a human being…is your heart that big? Can we help a stranger like we would help our own?

I want to see myself and others make sure we find one person out there who needs a lifeline and give it to them. In anyway we can.

Kindness, generosity…these two things are my resolutions. Nothing else.

Re: Ideas for change

Re: Ideas for change

I would actually like to see more honesty in people…whether it be their thoughts and feelings/interaction

That’s my 2014 wish for others.

Re: Ideas for change

I think his message was that people should be decent and come together? regardless of beliefs just like Jinnah said that you are pakistanis and free to go to your temples, mosques and churches.

Ideas for change

For people to stop judging one another, live and let live. Don’t think it will happen but a girl can dream. No more ridiculous double standards especially for woman.

i wish the younger generation respects it’s elders more and become a bit more religious in TRUE Islamic spirit. what i mean by becoming ‘truly religious’ is someone who is neither a fanatic nor liberal, i.e. someone who follows Islam in it’s true spirit. aameen

Re: Ideas for change

Someone recently said to me: “I wish females on GS were more active in the PA forum.” I am so not politically inclined. Don’t even know where to start.
