I have been trying to come up with an inspirational and motivational message to depict through a short Islamic film. All the short films, usually have good messages but i’ve noticed they share a common ending (the protagonist dies or something happens to him to change his ways). I cant get my mind around to coming up with another original yet powerful theme to compile a movie on, other then someone changing from good to bad, or dying at the end…as this concept has been used up a lot in Islamic short films.
If anyone has an idea for a Islamic short film, which would be both powerful and inspirational, I would love to make a short film on it. I have the crew, the equipment, the works… just missing an idea.
I think we need to use this medium to spread the message across, as more and more people are getting acquainted with technology, the internet, etc.
There is already a website running (but hasn’t launched yet) for the production of these shorts, (which I intend to do on my free time, with hired or voluntary actors). The Perfect Example - Uswa-e-Hasanah will launch soon, and I want to provide a short film for free viewing on the site.

I guess I might wanna know a little bit more about your limitations from the production stand point. Set design, camera techniques, locations, costumes ...
I mean, for example, I can give you an idea where the story goes back and forth between two familes of same lineage but both families are set in different times (maybe a family in 18th century and their great great great grandkid's family in 21st century).. and they face the same type of challenge, but being guided by their social setup, life style and belief level, they follow different mantorship system and achieve different results.
I love the idea, but it would require alot of funding, which shouldn't be a problem inshallah.
We could just as well have it take place in the same century, and depict the similar situations between two families who live in different countries with differnet social/cultural structures.
Limitations to our production would definitely be set design, since i live in Canada, and so will the cast.
i have no such idea , but might come up with something if i shake my mind ..........
how much time do u have before u finalize the screenplay ?? weeks or months ?

Sure , both stories can take place in the same time ... even in the same city .. but two different families ...

when perils are to be faced .... we need steadfastness and patience in constancy ...

... the need of the times ....
Trust ... and putting principles above any idea of victory.
To be sacrficial and to be in loss ... to gain Divine favour ... without it manifesting ... is the symbol of true faith in the Hereafter.
The story is based in the middle of the anguish from the times of Dajjal ... there is companionship, there is struggle, there is being good, and there is being betrayed,
.... there is the rock who is unmoved and continues in righteousness ... there is loss and sense of threat that such times are upon us ... that we cannot become like
them those who lose hope ... nor like those who choose to justify their means by their ideological ends.
There is loss of family, there is oppression, there is theft, but in return only goodness is given ... there is suffering ....there is fear .... there is anarchy ...
There is a growing systematic evil .... but those who face it .... worried but unmoved ....
Mahdi is already in the world
Dajjal has come
None of these may be required in the whole film ...
but at the end .... a sliver of hope ... a gleam of light .... the message of Masih has arrived
I'm going to keep that in mind, and see if i can incorporate it into the world. The ideas of struggling through those times is a nice message, but do you think some sort of story can be developed, and the lesson learned at the end with it?
As in, what could be shown, to depict the message and the reality of the time?
I would like a short service message not sure if appropriate for a short film though. Its about Keeping our masajid occupied and populated. Often our masajid are empty, people who come to pray turn back, those come seeking knowledge turn back with no one to communicate with, non-muslims seeking clarifications or more knowledge about Islam turn back when our houses of worship are empty. The impact it has on spreading the message of Islam when we are not present in the place from where it springs and gushes forth. Any idea on how to trun that into a short film.
how about how ppl lived during the time of jalliyah you know they buried girls alive had slaves women were cattle, they had man superstitions and prayed to idols then along came islam ...
or how about a film of the greatest general khalid ibn walid sword of allah
The limitation I do have is that I live in Toronto, filming a desert scene , or a scene form the olden days might be hard, unless i get a studio and green screen it, but thats just going too far.
Something local, something present.
I love the masjid Idea, I might do a short documentary-type-thingamajig for that. Because its so true! we dont pay heed to that. Thanks USR.

since you live in toronto you could make a movie depicting the lives of two muslims who have been born and raised there. i.e one very religious, and the other who isnt and show how their lives differ.
Thats a secondary achievement of his caliphate primary achievement is that despite all this worldly success he made sure muslims were by and large sticking rigidly to the rules of religion
Important to quote a incident between Umar[ra] and Abu Darda [ra]
unfortunately muslims afterwards lost their way and despite some valiant attempts to restore back this order we were unsuccessful.
I think u can work on dispelling the notion that only a 'moderate" muslim is a good muslim. And that a practising [read fundamentalist] muslim is neccesarily a bad guy or inherently violent.
