ICC Test Championship

We have a mountain to climb. :frowning:

Australia can move back to the top of the ICC Test Championship if it wins the Cable and Wireless series against West Indies which begins on Thursday 10th April.

Having asserted its dominance of the One-Day International game last month by retaining the ICC Cricket World Cup without losing a match, Australia can now focus on overhauling South Africa at the top of the Test rankings.

A series win for Australia will boost its points tally to 21 from 13 series, taking its average up to 1.62 which is crucially 0.03 higher than South Africa’s current average.

West Indies currently lies seventh in the ICC Test Championship with an average of 0.88. If Brian Lara’s team can win the series it will boost this average to 0.94, taking West Indies above India to sixth place in the table.

The last time Australia toured the Caribbean in 1999 the series was drawn 2-2. A tie this time around will see both sides retain their current positions in the table.

Media note:

**At a meeting in Johannesburg 22nd March, the ICC Board agreed a new format for the ICC Test Championship which recognises the rewards and result of each Test match played.

The new system will be introduced from the beginning of June and further details will be announced prior to this official launch date. **

Re: ICC Test Championship

Pakistan is 8th??? We need to play Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to boost our number :smash:

Re: Re: ICC Test Championship

And Kenya needs to become a test playing nation. Then we can play them as well.

Problem in test is that Pakistan is always trying to win it, and other team is always trying to draw the match. So at the end, Pak loses.:( :)

Dont worry that will change soon, Especially if this new team starts to click.

Other way of looking at it is...It cant get worst than this.. ;)

Hahaha... gosh! this is hilarious... this whole test ranking. Aray koi ICC walon ko bolay... Umair or teaser ka wasta day ke .... kuch tau ooper karr dein Pakistan ko.

It can get worse, We are not at the bottom but will be if we start acting complacent even though we are 8th.

Luckily the guys in charge realise this and have some plans which hopefully should pay off and bring Pakistan towards the upper side of this ranking table.

gosh  kiwis are smart! Tailor some pitches and climb the ladder up :snooty:

I think India should act a nice host in coming series and welcome them with some ‘suitable’ pitches for them

Over confidence ;)

inshallah it will change soon

Ha Ha man you are funny, just because your team plays pathetically in a tour doesn’t mean the pitches were made for the kiwi batsman. Afterall they also had to bat on those pitches, but at the end of the day, they outclassed the great self proclaimed best batting lineup in the world.

Ohh you opened my eyes brother :p Btw read comments abt the series on internet :D there are plenty of em ;) and especially Kiwi media; they have plenty in praise of pitches.

And then yeah the self proclaimation of Indian batting extends to their very own cricketing pundits from all over the world.
