The retired players example was given to make you undertsand that past peformance shouldn’t matter if current performance is total sh!t.
Just give me examples of “many cases” where current performace does not matter.
And stop exaggerating, shoaib was forced to be “not fit” for a year. Are you kidding. What cricket do you follow and which player you refer to as shoiab akhtar. The person I am talking about withdrew from Pak India series and then was ready for Pak Windies series selection which was in late april so it has been 4 months and not 1 year.

I also wanted Inzy to be a part of this squad. Now, selectors have not selected him as they went to select the "most" deserving ones.
I have no interest in Shoaib vs. Inzy, but many people believe that if "Actor" can be selected then why a "big actor" can't be selected.

Shoaib is one case who has not proved himself recently.
Players are selected either on their currernt form or their career or both. Many things matter here. Inzy scored 1 run in 2 innings in Aus last year at an average of 0.50. This indicates his current FORM. As for Ind and WI, they have weak bowling attacks.
Correct yourself, Sir. Shoaib was well fit for series in India, he was even visiting PCB office for so many days, but neither PCB nor Inzi wanted him in the team. Recall all the news and those rumors that were initiated every day of Shoaib playing in India.

So first you talked about “many cases” and you ended up giving 1 example and even that is incorrect.
Are you naive or you are always like that??? Shoaib akhtar has not performed recently?? what the fu.k was that which happened last week in South Africa. The performance was good enough for selectors to know that he is fit and in form.
Tendi on the other hand is still unfit and this is also an issue that how can they select an unfit player.

Shoaib is a quality player, he must have made it to the squad without that series. Same applies to Tendulkar. He don’t need to prove himself.
Shoaib performed in that Asia-Africa cup. But recent form meant a lot more, like one season. If according to you, that series indicates recent form then Inzy don’t qualify as a quality player. He just scored 38 runs in 3 matches and 2 innings.
Shoaib was well fit during that series in India. He might have missed the first Test but just after that he was visiting PCB and they were paying no attention. Giving a single news does not make any sense, that was a story that turned many times a day. This is my last comment on Inzy-Shoaib, any ways.

Just heard on GEO news that Ehsan mani has said that he is surprised to see inzi not included into world 11 squad. According to him he would have selected inzi because of his recent form, if he had to select the world 11. He also said that ICC sent invitation to PCB to nominate 2 representatives for the selection panel but PCB never responded. Once again PCB has proved that they are a bunch of pot heads. Not only the World 11 selection panel should be blamed for their partiality but also the PCB for being incompetent once again.

All I wish is a good contest in sports, whether it is cricket or whatever. Good contest require quality players. Lara, Inzamam, Tendulkar, Shoaib, ..... are all quality players.
Inzamam's exclusion is something that will always remain in memories (bad memories section). PCB, like always, is just interested in bloody politics. Now I expect Mr. SY Khan to come on media (in a new 3-piece suit) and reason why PCB's presence was not required in selection pannel.
If Ehsan has said so then Ehsan mani "zakhmooN pe namek chiddaknay ki koshish kar raha hay". If he is so keen why not he and ICC did something before.

I never said Inzi was an idiot, thats what your post has also implied. Fact is, he has never hidden his desire to lead the World-11, nothing wrong with ambitions but then these are not Paki selectors (thank god for that) they can decide for themselves.

Inzamam-ul Haq, the Pakistan captain, has expressed his surprise and disappointment at being omitted from both the World Test and ODI squads for the Super Series against Australia in October.
“I would be lying if I said I am not disappointed,” Inzamam was quoted as saying by PTI. “Yes, I am. But my disappointment is not to extents that would demoralise or depress me. As far as I am concerned, my top priority is Pakistan and I am still focused on this year’s home series against England.”
Questioning the rationale behind the selection of the World teams Inzamam wanted an explanation for his omission. “Just for curiosity’s sake, I am interested to know what the criterion for selection was. I would appreciate if any of the selectors explain why I could not make it to the squad although their explanation would neither turn things around nor they would satisfy me.”
Inzamam said that he was confident about his batting skills and that the Super Series would have been good preparation for the series against England. “My confidence is still sky high and I am aware of my target that is to beat England in the home series,” said Inzamam. “Nevertheless, I thought I had a good chance to qualify in the World XI that would have given me the right preparation before a tough series against England.”
Even as Inzamam took his disappointment on the chin, he received strong support from Pakistan’s former cricketers. Here’s what they had to say:
Hanif Mohammad: “Please read the team sheet again and that too carefully, there must have been a typographical error because no sane selector can drop such a great batsman.”
Zaheer Abbas: “I am sure that the entire nation is in a shock because he is a world-class player and deserves to be in any team. To me, this World XI is without a spine because there is no Inzamam. Whatever you may say, but the bottomline is that it’s an honour to be selected for World XI. It [selection] justifies your status as a true world-class player. He must be down and disappointed but I am sure that he will rise and through his performance would make the selectors rue their decision.”
Javed Miandad: “It is a mindboggling decision. What was the selection criterion because as far as I am concerned, when you select a World XI, you consider two things: present form of the player and the status of his team. Inzamam is in terrific form while Pakistan is one of the top teams. I don’t think the selectors can justify their decision to leave Inzamam out.”
Shaharyar Khan: “As chairman of PCB, I am disappointed because Inzamam is a class act and a proven performer and deserved to be in the team. But while saying this, I add that I respect and accept the selection process and would not take up the matter with the ICC or its selectors.”

Umer Shareef bhai... oops i mean Umer Ashraf bhai just reply to my simpel questions. Given the choice, will you select a UNFIT player in the team or OUT OF FORM player?
O bhai forget about the main team, even 12th player bhee us ko hee leya jata hai jo 100% fit ho! No matter how great player you are but if you cant hold the bat/ball because you are not fit how can you get selected?

Common sense suggest that I must select the players who are Fit and in a good form. But there are some other things that I might consider.
- How much time I have for the tour? One month is enough for most players to regain their fitness.
- If I have to select between two player, ONE (who scored 700 in his last 7 matches, but is not much consistent in his career) and Second (who just scored 250 in his last seven matches but is amongst the most consistent options I have), then I may select the Second option, as he can get back his form any time and can prove himself as a better option than the First. Player one can lose his form and thus can cost me matches.
Inzy-Tedulkar case is much different though, Tendulkar is more consistent than Inzy in his career, but the gap is not that much. On the other hand Inzy has the advantage of being in a good form throughout most of the last season and he is also more likely to be fit. Tendulkar was not consistent with his bat during last season but he has scored big scores. He also assured his fitness for the series.
However, if I select Inzy, it will not be good with Tendulkar, and vice versa.
