LM-- Regarding your post, I dont think Sachin will make it to the squad because of his injury so that leaves another extra spot and as fnguy said that Vaughan has an exceptional record playing in australia so that tilts the decision in his favor. We will know for sure by the end of ashes. If england manages to beat them or at least come close then Vaughan will take the reins.
Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named
Graeme Smith, is a strong candidate for Captain. He is a better contender and is friendly enough.
Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named
In a major guffaw the International Cricket Council (ICC) picked a photograph of a group of Afghan refugees and some Maulvis taking part in a demonstration to promote Pakistan cricket in the build-up to the Super Series matches between the World eleven and Australia this October.
‘The News’ has learnt from sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that although the Pakistan cricket officials have got the ICC to change the promotional poster of Pakistan cricket, it left them flabbergasted at the mix-up. “To be honest, the senior officials of the Board acted promptly and showed a lot of guts in protesting the blunder to the ICC and get the backdrop photograph of the poster changed which was not a proper depiction of the Pakistani people,” one source said.
"The ICC has created posters of all the teams whose players have been picked for the World XI team that would play against Australia. The poster of each country including Pakistan shows a crowd of people in the backdrop with the slogan “A million people want your seat’,” the source stated.
“The idea is to depict the message that many people want to play in the Super Series or watch it from a particular country.”
“The problem with the Pakistan poster was that the ICC unknowingly picked a photograph of people who are basically either Afghan refugees or Maulvis taking part in some demonstration!” the source disclosed.
Pakistan has already told the ICC its players selected for the final World XI Test and one-day squads would not be wearing the logo of the sponsors of the Super Series, a alcohol company Johnnie Walker.
The PCB has told the ICC that the Pakistan players will, not at all, promote or endorse the sponsors’ brand during the Super Series.

Some Young Players
It is not very uncommon to encounter humorous questions, asked unintentionally by journalists, even when they are talking seriously. Here is one such question. It might be quite old and may have been noticed by most.
Unfortunately only one young player had managed to made it into second round. In my opinion, young players need to be encouraged. ![]()

Flintoff and Dravid top Super Series polls
More than 16,000 people voted in our Super Series Poll, and here are the results of your Test and one-day Super Series teams. The 11 players with the highest votes haven’t actually made it to each side, as we had to take the balance of the team into account. A team with nine batsmen is hardly going to beat the Australians, so we let go of a batsman to bring in a bowler wherever necessary. None of the batsmen who polled the highest votes for the Test side were openers, so we had to include Virender Sehwag and Graeme Smith (openers with the highest votes) in the side. Inzamam-ul-Haq, who aggregated the seventh highest votes, lost out.
Rahul Dravid topped the Test votes and Andrew Flintoff topped the one-day votes, with Muttiah Muralitharan coming second in both, followed by a bevy of batsmen. Ironically, the two men who topped the captaincy votes in the Test XI actually failed to make it to the side: Inzamam and Michael Vaughan. Smith had the third-highest votes, and is your notional captain.
In the one-day side, Inzamam won the captaincy by a massive margin, and found a place in the side as well. Shahid Afridi suffered: he won more votes than Shoaib Akhtar but he missed the final cut because the only available slot by the time his name was reached was of a specialist bowler. He could still, if Inzamam so desires, be a super sub.
So here they are, the Super Series sides you have picked. Do you think the ICC can match this?

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named
Voting on the net has no meaning to me. I follow soccer more than cricket usually and I have always seen David Beckham as the best player in the World on Inet poles. To every dedicated soccer fan, Beckham is just a good player. The best of the World list definitely not includes him though.
Thus it is not strange to find Flintoff or Dravid topping the list.
