ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

Seems like Tendi is going to wait till Septembr 21st 11:59pm to inform his unavailibility for the super series. He hasn’t been fit for the past 3-4 months. Now at this stage he is either fit or unfit. Obviously he can’t regained fitness in 3 days ,so what is he waiting for now? If he is fit why he is not informing about his availibility?

Tendulkar’s return not confirmed
[Sunil Joshi has retracted his earlier statement in which he confirmed Sachin Tendulkar’s participation in the Canara Bank Centenary Cricket Championship 2005 as part of the MRF team.
Joshi clarified that there had been a misunderstanding in this regard according to Mid-Day, the Mumbai based daily. Joshi was earlier quoted as saying, “The big news is that MRF is playing and Sachin (Tendulkar) has confirmed his participation in the tournament. This will be a good practice session for him (Tendulkar) before he goes for the Super Series.”

Tendulkar, who has been selected in World XI’s one-day and Test squads, has been asked to confirm his availability for the Super Series by September 21. MRF’s first game is on Tuesday, against Indian Airlines. ](http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/superseries/content/story/219501.html)SOURCE: http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/superseries/content/story/219501.html

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

To make Inzi suffer and keep him on waiting list for another 3 days. :)

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

Some sources have claimed that if inzi is included in the superseries squad on September 21st he is going to turn down the offer. He already has decided not to attend the captains conference and the ICC awards in Australia.

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

Oh it looks like Inzy is personal. He was not selected for the position for reasons. That was n0t fair any way, but if he is getting a chance, he must join to entertain his supporters.

If Vaghan can accept such an offer, then why should Inzy reject it?

Yes, Inzy is a different player and he is one of the greats, but then I mean attitude. He deserved a selection in regular team, but if it is there now, then he must behave in a professional manner and go for it.

In any case, this Super Series must be considered apart from other ICC events. Inzy is a Captain of Pak team, and the Captain is required to attend that meeting. If he cannot attend such ceremonies (for personal reasons), then he must leave his position to some one who cares for supporters and country.

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

He has made his intentions quite clear... and i agree with him completly ...here is what he said earlier in the interview

Inzamam said it was a great honour for him to be nominated for three ICC awards. "I don't think that I will win any award for the simple reason that if I get any award, it would be embarrassing for the selectors and I don't think the ICC would put its selectors in a situation where they are left with no hiding place. Don't you agree that it would be a bad publicity for the ICC or its selectors if winner of any of the three awards is originally overlooked from its World XI?"

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

hmmm… so you mean to say that whatever the bloody gora’s want to do, they can do conveniently, they can screw us whenever they want to and it doesn’t matter if its professional or unprofessional. But when it comes to us, we have to deal with them in an professional manner, otherwise we will get the label that we are showing attitude.
I am not saying that should he or should he not go. Personally I would love to see him playing at the Superseries. But they way you have put it, it seems like a deserving player like Inzi has to beg infront of the ICC to get a place in the squad.
Someone needs to tell ICC that enough is enough. This bull $hit is not on.

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

Players get hurt when they are not selected and they were deserving, but then selectors have their own criteria ( ). Inzy can win all 3 awards, but he can still not be the best option for selection in Super series.

Inzy must put negative attitude apart, now. Right now, he is not a hitter coming at 6th,7th position, he is the captain of Pak side, and he must behave like a leader. That is, don’t lose his energy on things that are irrelevant and cannot be achieved. With an attitude like this, he is posing himself dying for awards and selection.

Inzy must attend his invitations at least. If he can get any or all the awards, that will be enough to f***k the selectors. Even his nomination is a good reply to selectors. If he will not attend this ceremony, then what these awards will mean to youngsters like Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, Rana ( :D)…They can be nominated at some stage and Inzy must not set a bad example.

Interesting NOTE: I was always shocked to know that Rana is a youngster, but then I found out that Rooney is STILL a teenager. Rooney is a teenager for so many years. I guess he started playing soccer when he was ThirTeen.
Bottomline:
If Rooney can STILL be a teenager, then why Rana can’t be a youngster.

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

even though i fully support Inzi's decision and think that it was the right thing to do ... there is some thing called self esteem and also its a long long flight from pak to australi as well... i am fully sure, he has lead from the front so far and every body knows that he has been screwed coz ICC selectors dont find him chirismatic....anyways this is what he said in his defense...

"I don't think it would be a wise decision to take a long flight to and from Sydney for the Captains' Conference when the same time can be better utilised to prepare for the home series against England. That is far more important than anything at the moment."

Unfit Tendulkar opts out of Super Series
(Updated at 1600 PST)
MUMBAI: Indian star batsman Sachin Tendulkar Wednesday opted out of the ICC Super Series of three one-internationals and one six-day Test in Australia.

Doctor supervising the rehabilitation programme for Sachin Tendulkar's elbow has advised that Sachin should participate in at least one domestic game to evaluate his recovery before participating in competitive cricket. Therefore Tendulkar has opted out of the Super Series, said a media release from the BCCI

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

I don't think Inzi will go to play in this super series even if he is selected now.

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

^^ I would support Inzi if he says no to supper series and I think he will.

On a 2nd thought ICC knowing Inzi's intension they might not even ask him, they may ask someone else to join in. Well lets see...

Re: ICC Super series. Rest of the world Squads named

Just read at cricketnext that Inzi has confirmed his availability. Although i wanted him not to go but if he is called upon and he decides to play, i want him to kick some @$$e$ in the series

Inzamam to replace Tendulkar in Super Series

India’s Sachin Tendulkar has opted out of next month’s challenge series between Australia and a World XI and is likely to be replaced by Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Tendulkar has not fully recovered from an elbow injury.

“He will not be playing in the Super Series because he has not fully recovered. He has told us and we have informed the ICC (International Cricket Council),” Indian cricket board joint secretary Goutam Das Gupta told Reuters from Kolkata.

Inzamam, who has played 101 tests and 347 one-day internationals, confirmed his availability to replace Tendulkar on Wednesday.

“I have just been told by the board to give my confirmation for the Super Series,” Inzamam said. “I am available to play because it is a big honour to play alongside the world’s best.”

Tendulkar has not played competitive cricket since undergoing corrective surgery in May on his left elbow.

Inzamam likely to replace Tendulkar](http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/pakistan/content/story/219898.html)

Inzamam-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, is in line to replace Sachin Tendulkar in both the World XI ODI and Test squads for the Super Series against Australia.

A senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official told Cricinfo that he had received a phone call from the ICC informing him that Inzamam will be included in both squads as a replacement for Tendulkar, who will miss out owing to a long-standing elbow injury.

The official said, **“I received a call yesterday evening from an official in the ICC and he said that Inzamam had been included in both squads.” **

Inzamam had recently said that he was unwilling to travel to Australia for the ICC awards and the Captains Conference. At the time, he also hinted that, if given a late opportunity as a replacement for Tendulkar, he might turn down the offer to play. Inzamam had given his persistent back troubles as a reason for not wanting to travel to Australia, claiming it may hamper his preparation for the series against England.

But the PCB official confirmed that Inzamam has agreed to participate when he is officially informed by the ICC. “They have to inform him personally of their decision to make it official but he has told us he is willing to play and we have no problem with that.”

Inzamam told the Karachi-based daily, The News, **“It is an honour to play for the World XI with the world’s best players, although naturally I would have liked to be in the original squads. But the selectors have their own criteria for selecting teams on which I can’t comment.” **

Inzamam also spoke of his desire to make a mark in Australia. “Australia is special for me as I first made my name there in the 1992 World Cup,” he said, **“and I have always enjoyed playing there. Pakistan’s next tour to Australia is in 2008 and realistically I don’t think I would be able to make that tour. So I have decided to make this one final trip there and do something special.” **

He also said the series would be a good opportunity to observe leading English players such as Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen and Steve Harmison, who are widely expected to make significant contributions in the series against Pakistan, beginning in November. “It would also be a good opportunity for me to get valuable practice before the home series against England.”

There had been considerable criticism of the ICC in Pakistan after the exclusion of Inzamam from the World XI squads. After averaging nearly 95 in Tests and over 50 in ODIs this year, many felt that his exclusion was unjustified and a result of reasons other than his form.

Now, provided that, Inzy and Shoaib will play in both squads, I want Afridi in the Test too.

Inzi replaces sachi…(I.C.C super cup)

http://www.keralanext.com/news/index.asp?id=379116

Islamabad, Sep 22 : Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq will replace the still unfit Sachin Tendulkar in the World XI squad that will play Australia in the Super Series next month.

“It is an honour to play for the World XI with the world’s best players. Although naturally I would have liked to be in the original squad, the selectors have their own criteria for selecting teams on which I can’t comment,” The News Thursday quoted Inzamam as saying.

The burly Pakistan captain had earlier said he would not be making the trip to Australia to attend the ICC captains meet in Sydney as he suffers from a chronic back problem that is aggravated by long haul flights.

He, however, decided on going after he got the invitation to be part of the World XI squad – Tendulkar opted out Wednesday as he is still recuperating from an elbow injury.

Inzamam said he would break his journey on his way to Australia to avoid any recurrence of his back problem. The veteran of 101 Tests and 347 one-day internationals said he had also decided to go to Australia and play in the Super Series as it would be his last opportunity to play in Australia.

“Australia is special for me as I first made my name there in the 1992 World Cup and I have always enjoyed playing there,” he said. “Pakistan’s next tour to Australia is in 2008 and realistically I don’t think I would be able to make that tour. So I have decided to make this one final trip there and do something special.”

NowInzi gets some relief…

well,I like Inzi than sachin anyway…
