Ishtiaq Ahmed sucked/sucks/will continue to suck. The guy probably never did one iota of research into his subject matter before writing.

case in point, a novel called “hawaa kay qaidi” about a hijacked plane

let me note some issues with that novel

hijackers tied up the crew and threw them in “the” bathroom. I dont know of any commercial airlines which have some “bathroom” which will fit the crew of a plane. what was ishtiaq thinking, a full hamaam with a shower, soaking tub, double vanity? idiot

this microfilm with some secrets on it is hidden by a stewardess in a “martabaan” (jar) in the kitchen, they go thru all the “martabans” to find the right one. errr…what is this an aircraft kitchen or some doodh patti dhabba? next he will claim there was a gawala making lassi there too

to get the explosives which were tied to one of the hijackers ankle, farzana slides under the chairs to get to him and remove it without him knowing. okay..I can barely fit my carry on under the seat, how can this girl go thru the seat? i mean its not lounge chairs at some valima that some teenager can go slide under, or she is a chipkalli, or she is anorexic like something fierce.

I dont recall much more of his work, although there was an idiotic novel called “khoon ko holi” which is probably the lamest thing I have ever read, and the fact that it was targetted to kids with such prejudiced undertones is beyond belief.

spot on. I always find it funny that an entire family was playing detective too bloody weird.

I believe in sharing the goods. Hence two sets of Jasoosi Dunya and one set of Imran has been shared with those who are interested. It has been a while and some reading is due on my part so I need them back.

WISE UP n GUYS, Ishtiaq ahmed wrote a very decent Inspector jamshed series ...try and read his first 12 or so novels ...( incidentally i think he copied them form an english writer but ) they really were exciting and could be compared to a pale version of ibne safi status writing.which again in my terms is great ...better then the rest... sadly after that initial series when he became famous and started his own ishtiaq publications things went downhill and pretty fast. so if you want to slam him please do so by all means but also try and check out the first 12 novels ...NOT ON ISHTIAQ PUBLICATIONS ..

Some of these names sound sooooooo similar, purasraar "Khat", Haveli ka "Khat", qatil ka "Khat", etc ... right there you know there is a lack of creativity in other writers as opposed to Ibn-e-Safi.

So, do you have these novels? :D

nope but i distnctly remeber enjoying them thoroughly just like ibne safi novels. i know that the repetition of similar words might sound lame but if you try and read them ( i intend to buy these again on return to karachi as well ) you definitely would enjoy...MIND YOU you WILL NOT BE READING IBNESAFI but if there is anything closely resembling and noteworthy then this is it.

I agree, the first few books by Ishtiaq, and for that matter even by Mazhar Kaleem as others suggested, were good. I think these guys lost the touch afterwards. Someone should start writing something different now. Something creative, entertaining, and constructive.

actually i am not happy with whatever u say against Ishtiyaq Ahmed because u should not dirty ur toungue by saying bad things about anyone ....that is also a bad deed in the sight of Allah

And if Ishtiyaq Ahmed writes something anti-shia so he writes for sunni people not for shias or qadiyanies and he never invites them to read it too

and after all i don't feel shame in telling u that i love Ishtiyaq Ahmed

and i pray for him that may Allah always keep him under his loving care and bless him with his endless blessings
