IbneSafi or Mazhar Kaleem!!!

in early 90’s growing up in Pak i think every teen reads Imran Series. I started reading these in 2nd grade with Ibnesafi’s novel. but then turned to Mazhar Kaleem’s coz they seem more entertaining than Ibnesafi’s.

But even during those days, i was always told by my cousines that Ibnsafi’s novels are far better than MK’s. After reading MK’s for a long time i really got boared of them (i used to read IBnesafi’s novels during that time too but not with same interest)and and tried Ibnesafi’s Novel’s again and i realized that they were much more interesting than MK’s. The humor, Thrill, the Jassosi was just at an un compareable level.

At the end i think Ibnsafi’s novels were much better than MK’s. what do you guys think.?

Mazhar kaleem’s earlier novels of Imran series were very good :k:

But later he lost the touch and humour, in his novels and became too much centralized on Imran’s charactor. Other important charactors like Hameed, Tahir, Afridi and others were side lined too badly.

Ibn-e-Safi’s Imran series was the orignal and had created the orignal charactors and he gave lot of importance to every individual charactor.
His novels were clasic

Ishtiaq Ahmed all the way!!!

nikema

the diff between ibne safi and mazhar kaleem stuff is very simple. mazhar lacks the depth that Ibne safi had and tries to fill it up with comedy and action.

Ofcourse u also had n-safi (naghma safi some say) who is not related, and who tried to make up for her/his lack of depth by offering some T&A type of stuff.

Ishtiaq Ahmed sucked/sucks/will continue to suck. The guy probably never did one iota of research into his subject matter before writing.

case in point, a novel called "hawaa kay qaidi" about a hijacked plane

let me note some issues with that novel

1) hijackers tied up the crew and threw them in "the" bathroom. I dont know of any commercial airlines which have some "bathroom" which will fit the crew of a plane. what was ishtiaq thinking, a full hamaam with a shower, soaking tub, double vanity? idiot

2) this microfilm with some secrets on it is hidden by a stewardess in a "martabaan" (jar) in the kitchen, they go thru all the "martabans" to find the right one. errr...what is this an aircraft kitchen or some doodh patti dhabba? next he will claim there was a gawala making lassi there too

3) to get the explosives which were tied to one of the hijackers ankle, farzana slides under the chairs to get to him and remove it without him knowing. okay..I can barely fit my carry on under the seat, how can this girl go thru the seat? i mean its not lounge chairs at some valima that some teenager can go slide under, or she is a chipkalli, or she is anorexic like something fierce.

I dont recall much more of his work, although there was an idiotic novel called "khoon ko holi" which is probably the lamest thing I have ever read, and the fact that it was targetted to kids with such prejudiced undertones is beyond belief.

lolz at your views about valima, doodh patti dhaaba, and hamaam :hehe: but i have read most of his work. there might be hardly 10% that haven’t gone through my library so i can say that if u read him continuously, he was better than mazhar kaleem. I won’t say ibn-e-safi as i haven’t read most of his work. Ofcourse, you’ll find these kinda logical mistakes in many novels of mazhar kaleem as well but i would say overall, he is one of my favorite authors.

galaxy, do u remember "khoon ki holi" and what that was all about? :)

kami, how come you read these novels? i mean i thought u were born here or atleast brought up here

i used to just read ishtiaq ahmeds novel and i was addicted to them at one time..this is like 15 yrs ago back in pakistan..but that harami was very anti shia so i stopped reading them..also in the begining his novels were short n fun and every year he would come up with a huge novel..i m forgetting what it was called..but later every novel of his was long..so that was kinda stupid too

i have never read imran series so not sure how they are..i m going to visit pakistan so i will buy some novels..suggest some good ones

p.s. there was also a novel that was an adventure of this guy who i think goes back in the history...it consisted of 100 books? remember the name?

yeahh.....it wasn't every year but rather every 6 months and it was called Khaas Number.

Fraudz....yeah i kinda remember that......actually recalling by the title of the novel is hard to remember but since u mentioned the plot earlier, i clearly remember it.....but oh well, i would still say that he was good.

Sheraz, yeah he was very anti-shia, but i guess i focused more on his work as it was inspiring than measuring his personal beliefs whether he supported Khatam-e-Nabuwwat or Anti-Shiism.

Khaas number..thats right..every month he is coming out with khaas number lol

anyways does he still write? he shouldnt have brought his personal beliefs in jasoosi novels

i have no clue of he still writes or not and for that personal beliefs thing, it's his choice. We are none to ask him not to drag his personal beliefs in his work and many writers all around the world do reflect these kinda beliefs in their work so that's not surprising at all.

NOw ishtiaq ahmed is moulana ishtiaq ahmed..... :D
Working for a magazine bacho ka islam and is mashallah beareded now.....

YEs he is very anti qadiyani ..any one rember wadiye marjan ...
or jannat main qatal

Ibn safi was more interested in julia then mazahr kaleem......

yeah, he is bearded since early 80s...and yes, i do remember wadi-e-marjaan. Not only that but many others were anti-qadyaani and i had no information about his magazine, thanks for informing.

I have read almost 800 Plus Imran series from Diff writers

Ibnesafi, M Kaleem, Safdar Saheen, S Qureshi etc etc

BUT...

IBne Safi has no Match... He was one of the Gr8est Novalist. His Writings were Outstanding.

Mazhar Kaleem was good at early novels, afterwards it worthless.

LOL @ Fraudz' analysis of Hawa kay Qaidi.

Do you remember 'Jeraal Ki Waapsi'?. That one had similar idiocies.

So who remembers "mehmood kay boot kay talway may chaaqoo", 'Farooq ka raan per haath maarna", Farzana ka bhaagtay dushman kay raastay may taang arraana", etc.

Looking back I can't believe I used to read that stuff.

Aaah, I came across one of Ishtiyaq Ahmad’s novels a couple of years ago, and I couldn’t get past page two, I was laughing my head off. And no it wasn’t because it was funny  It’s true, I can’t believe I read that stuff, it’s so out of this world. But then I think kids will believe anything, what with our wild imaginations and all. It was pretty entertaining to read back then.

I haven’t heard of Mazhar Kaleem. Frauds, howcome you’re so up to date on this stuff and you even know their names, you still read them, don’t you?? :hoonh:

I can't either :-D But at that time they seemed like there was nothing better than them. I was hooked and use to spend a lot of money buying them and use to be so mad if the price was increased from RS 15 to RS 18. Looking back all I can say is I want my money back mad

I also learned later in life that Ishtiaq Ahmed copied most of it from some Western writer. That' insult to injury.

The only Urdu novelist i can read was late ibn-e-safi. Considring his stories were published from 50’s to 70’s his fiction was reasonable & he tryed to give a reasonable explaination of things.

His characters were well balanced, most of the characters other novelists used were either Ibn-e-safi’s creations or copy of his characters.

All other were simply crap.

:bravo:
