this is mig-25, my personal fav this is one of the fastest fighters in the world and also it can fly at high altitudes( yes away from the range of any pakistani missile) by the way, anyone of u who is from islamabad should remember this plane coz its sonic boom once waked up the citizens of islamabad around 1996 or 1997!

that was me and i still stand by my statement. By the way did some one just said Pathankot or Halwara ??

Generalizations are generally wrong.

POW Flt.Lt Nachiketa was involved in hostile attack on Pakistani positions. When his Mig-27 was shot he ejected and after landing on the ground he tried to escape. He fired on the Pakistani soldiers with his pistol but still he could not escape and was captured. Indian govt. refused to take its pilot which was afterwards handed over to the Red Cross.

Man, where do you get your info from?

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Do you rememebr in Kargil Indian MIGs tried to enter Pak airspace and were immediately shot down!

If you really believe they could make it to the capital you really need to stop being so naive!

As Gen.Horner would say, IAF would never get that far!

Indian spy plane crashes

NEW DELHI (AFP) -An unmanned Indian spy plane crashed near Pakistan’s border on Friday during a trial flight along the militarised frontiers, officials here said.
They said the unmanned Nishant aircraft crashed in the deserts of India’s northern state of Rajasthan where New Delhi has deployed its forces amid soaring military tensions with nuclear rival Pakistan.
“It was an experimental flight to test the Nishant in live conditions when it crashed in a village of Jaisalmer district,” an official from the state-run Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said.
The DRDO said described the crash as an accident and rejected speculation that it could have been shot down.

real deal,if u want source i can give u but it would be indian so u wont believe it! so i would suggest if u know someone high ranking in PAF then go ask him, also u can go to pakistanidefence.com and ask the posters there whether this is true or not,u will get the answer, they r still disscussing how to intercept mig-25 so that another sonic boom from that fighter jet can be avoided, this was so embarrassing for pakistan that govt prevented media from publishing it!

Gali- wether you believe it or not, we have a free media in Pak.

Second i was living in Islamabad at that time when my dad was posted there.

Thirdly, my uncle is a senior officer in the PAF and while I obviously don't know about 'top secrets', things like this 'leak out'.

The actual combat-worthiness of the Mig-25 is quite doubtful - the plane has low maneuverability and aging weapons systems. It was developed specifically to intercept high-altitude nuclear bombers, not to engage fighters.

The plane does little other than fly high and fast - it does not carry any guns or short-ranged missiles at all, and can only carry 4 ageing radar-guided missiles.

The main value of the plane is as a reconnaisance aircraft - a somewhat moot point, however, given that India can obtain hi-definition satellite photos of Pakistani positions from Russia anyway.

mad scientist,i have to say u r absolutely right mig-25 indeed is used for reconnaisans ! that is what i m saying it flew over islamabad to take some pictures and caused sonic boom! by the way i prefer it not for its combat features but for its high speed and ability to fly at very high altitude,it looks good too!

Can't the MiG-25 carry weapons of the worst kind?

Good pictures GKG...Probably good pilots fly them too...But in the end, the matter comes to a finish...Death...Will the IAF carry pilots that die in a cowardly fashion or a magnificent one...Our AF Mujahideen know how to live and die...Do yours?

How did it penetrate that deep inside Pak territory w/o being intercepted by the superior PAF? Do u have a source to back up ur claim? or is it just a whim

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/biggrin.gif

superior PAF! HA HA HA! can u back this claim of urs!

The superior crash record of IAF backs it up pretty nice...
