You guys must be dreaming....for there is a majority who insist on Kamran Khan, Shahid Masood and Hamid Mir...appear in NKS, Fashion Shows and everything includive David Lettermen and Jay Leno...to talk and flare up people about how and WHY Pakistan is progressing and how with their bull* talk...it should be stopped focusing people only on stupid politics and not development.....***

Geo is an anti-nationalistic channel. They're promoting indian culture and indian artists all the time(getting big bucks for that!). their religious programs are targetted towards the christain and jewish mission of creating opposing sects in muslims in the name of 'modernisation'.but must say their news casters are very proficient actors. they know how to add fuel to fire and create problems for the administration.

Some of the programs I like on geo are NKS, some of the current affairs program, and hum sab umeed say hain. Most of the dramas, entertainment talk shows, awards, etc are too much indian-ized. I wish our Pakistani channels would promote more of the Pakistani culture then Indian culture. I was watching some drama and the actresses were dancing on Indian songs. Though I like Indian songs but don't these people have any Pakistani song left to use in their dramas? And the presenters talking in Hindi annoy the hell out of me. Bhai why can't you speak Urdu?
Saieen, it not about watching Indian channels; it is more the fact that we feel ashamed of our own culture, values, and language. Whenever the talk of Pakistani culture comes up, the entire mullah bradery just ruins the topic saying Pakistani culture should be Islamic culture. They don't understand Islam is not a culture, it is a religion. Our culture is our dress, language, literature, art, music, and food; etc. The values in our cultures should be in accordance to the values we are taught in Islam. But when we confuse our culture with religion, things that have been raised by different posters happen because people are then confused that what exactly their culture is? It is inevitable for a person to live without a culture, therefore it is time that we understand the difference b/w culture and religion and start promoting our Pakistani culture on our media. We have a very rich culture and we should be proud of it then feeling ashamed of it and adopting other cultures.
If you want to add something to your culture then add things that would flourish the existing culture and not replace it with something that doesn't represents us, our people, etc.
Oh and let me add, it is not just Geo but all these private channels.

yes the dramas are too indianized but Geo production values are by far the best out of all the pakistani channels out there. in addition, their journalism is definitely wider ranging than ARY and along with AAJ they give voice to advocates of social and political change, a role media should play. good on them for that. :k:

I understand you have different opinion on the present political situation in Pakistan and conidering the fact that you have recently attended PTV awards with Uncle Musharraf as chief guest, I doubt you'd sides with any of the above mentioned people who are now against emergency and Uncle Musharraf. Anyway, politics has an important role in the development of the country. If our government kept going on with their present political games, I doubt there will be much development in the country. At the end it is not these politicians who suffer from this dirty politics but the people. These loonies ofcourse are not perfect but for the most part they are doing an acceptable job of bringing facts on the table and giving people the authoroty to be the judge.
