I dont have an issue with homosexual people at all. I have a good friend who is gay and believe this to be is choice and I have no place to pass judgement as the only true judge I believe is Allah.

Homosexuality is a sin. However, as long as your gay friend doesn't influence you, then you can just treat him like an non-muslim. You should, if possible, try and give him dawah. InshaAllah.
But, remember, Allah has told us to not take non-Muslims as close friends.

I have no issues with gay people either. I have no issues with straight people. I have issues with those who judge, who promote hate or isolation.

No this doesnot make you a bad muslim at all as long as the homosexual friend doesnot influence (making you think that homosexuality is good etc etc) you in anyway/you get influenced by him/her.

Is homosexuality comes as per the religion, belief, color, position, races etc etc? I don't think so. In case of 'What if.....'? we'll treat homosexual friend as per our belief.
Rather aksing others, lets ask ourself the same question and answer as per our belief/religion including references.

^^ My question was in the context mentioned by another poster who suggested to treat a homosexual like a non muslim and then he reminded that allah asked muslims to not to be good friends with non muslim. i am guessing that he was assuming a homosexual as non muslim.
personally for me it is more like a social issue than a religious issue.

we don't have to like it but why does islam consider homosexuality a sin? I can understand it if it is by choice but looking at how long and what all gay people put up with, I don't think it is by conscious or unconscious choice. If it just happens to be in nature how can it be sin?

Isn't there diff between people who are born gay vs people who were/are practicing homosexuality out of lust? Btw, statistically speaking 5% of any species (human, animals, birds, etc) are homosexual by design (ie DNA). How do you explain that?

I don't think anyone has the right to pass judgement on you for befriending a homosexual.
but one thing I would like to say is for myself and others is that we have become so used to accepting sins that we don't even see it as an issue. Homosexuality, adultry, alcohol just to name a few is so normal for us now, that we see beyond it. This says much about our upcoming generation, today we accept it as other's lifestyle, tommorow our children may accept it for our own. I'm not looking down on anyone, it was just a thought I had while reading this.

WE know that Allah (swt) never does injustice. HE wouldn't punish people without a complete justification. If there was a possibility of even 1% such natural cases (by design) then it would have been mentioned either in Quran or in Hadith and they would have been exempted of punishment. Allah (swt) doesn't punish people for the things that they have no control over. When HE says that it is a sin, than it means that it is controlable and hence no excuse for it is acceptable. Don't worry about science, it keep on altering its views from time to time, but ALLAH DOESN'T !

Murderers are found to have genetic tendencies to kill yet all the laws in the world still want them to refrain from killing. The same is the case with any idea that homosexuality is in any way natural or genetic for Islam. Some people have to try hard to learn mathematics, others find it easy ... it just means one has to try hard the other does not, but he may find doing other things hard.
Those Muslims inclined towards homosexuality must still not engage in the act, if they do, they must not declare that fact or they will be openly declaring their sins. It is therefore required of them to strive to avoid the act and even get married to an opposite gender and live in accordance to their fitrah ... not their nufs.
Both the fitrah and the nufs are what we consider natural ... people aught to live by the fitrah not the nufs ...
It's the fitrah that tells us that the homosexual act is for no other purpose than pleasure. Although not proven to be the cause of disease homosexual activity does like free heterosexual sex spread disease and that should be given careful regard to when assessing what is right in the fitrah.
Islam is precise on the idea in that what we indulge in the desire for it will increase ... in the past people were treated for homosexual tendencies and were diagnosed as having a mental illness ... today we are told it is a life choice by the dominant secular winds.
Viewing a Muslim drunkard, a Muslim adulterer and Muslim homosexual will be the same for me ... I will avoid their company not because I dislike them, but because the acts they engage in are disliked by those who love God and His law.

What if your homosexual friend is muslim?
Then one should avoid him too. Because for non muslim we can say ok he is non muslim and may be he dosent know Allah's law but muslim gay is more sinister because he knows the law given in Quran and hadith but still insists to remain gay.It means he is rejecting Allah and his Prophet pbuh.

and we shouldnt try to bring excuses like homosexuality is social issue or mental or genetic problem when we have clear orders of Allah and his Prophet pbuh in quran and hadith. Allah is just and all knowing. He knows what is best for his creations and also knows weaknesses of his creations. After reading R.W.A's post everything should be crystal clear there is no point of arguing.
