i think about food too much. i fantasize about food. if someone takes me out/gives me yummy food, it makes my day. I’m obsessed with good food. Sometimes i think i rely on food so much because everything else in life is so stressfull/rough, so food’s sort of become an escape but that’s detrimental in itself…cuz then i gain weight! Help. How do you curb your cravings/battle over-eating. This is a real issue in my life! My mom says “i think through my stomach and not my brain”.

Re: i want to stop eating
Keep yourself away from the food for certain periods of time each day e.g. when working or just go out if you don’t work. This way you can Keep a gap of 5-6 hours between meals and eat all you want during meal. Also, to avoid stuffing your fridge with excess food, go to grocery shopping only when you are full ![]()
Re: i want to stop eating
LOL this is me! I go on Tumblr is I feel like eating more than I've eaten. Oddly, it works.
Re: i want to stop eating
Just change your eating habits very slowly over a period of however many weeks/months it takes you. I have always had tea with 2 heaped teaspoons of sugar and lots of milk. Recently, I've switched to drinking tea without any sugar and with no more than 2 tbsp of milk. At first, it tasted disgusting but now I don't even think about it when drinking tea. Same with switching to brown bread instead of white. Next on the list are snack foods... I snack on stuff like Pringles right now. They're just. So. Good. rubs tid

I admire your self-control over this. I use 3 teaspoons of sugar and usually 2 cups of chai/day. I’ve been trying to cut back on the sugar (heck go down to 1tsp at least!) for the past few years but so far its been a total failure.
But I finally got my Coke addiction under control so maybe by the time I’m in my 50’s…I’ll get this under control too. :hinna:
Re: i want to stop eating
Wow, how do you drink it THAT sweet?
I have a coffee addiction. Minimum 2 cups a day on a regular day and I like it strong. I have tried quitting but I get headaches. ![]()
@ Huma: Pringles…yum! I’m addicted to chips too…and it’s so not good to maintain a flat tummy.
Re: i want to stop eating
Me too! I take 3 tsp in my tea!
For the last two months I have been using only 1 tsp but my stubborn tastebuds still don’t agree to that. Chai became a chore from lack of sweetness. So now I am back to 1.5 tsp and if this cold, soggy summer weather persists I am sure I’d be back to 3 tsp in no time.
Wow…wait a min…you’ve been trying to give up for years? Erm…3 tsp really that bad afterall?
Re: i want to stop eating
There's nothing wrong in liking food! Just eat healthy.. There are soooo many delicious recipes online these days :) Also, portion control is essential. Eat as much as you need. Don't overeat!
I've heard drinking a cold glass of water before eating helps you eat less Regardless, drinking water with a meal helps
Re: i want to stop eating
I think what really motivated me to cut out the sugar was having seen my mother struggle with a million issues due to diabetes. And thinking about all the damage I've done to my body already by eating unhealthy all my life to date. I can either continue living my life like this and end up bedridden by the time I'm 50. Or I can start making healthy choices so that I don't have to take a million pills and inject myself everyday like my mother. It's not about weight loss or body image for me, it's about health and fitness.
Re: i want to stop eating
I dunno…it’s just tastes good. Should I add that I use condensed milk which makes it even sweeter…
I’ve tried using 1.5 or 2tsp but it tastes too bitter. ![]()
Yes, 6 tsp daily (2 cups of chai) isn’t exactly healthy. I’ve had this addition PLUS a 1-2/day Coke addiction since my teens. Been trying to change it since my mid 20’s but it’s been HARD. I finally managed to get my Coke habit to a point where I drink 1 can every 2 weeks or so. But b/c I gave up the Coke, now chai is my only source of caffeine and it’s been impossible to train my taste buds to like the bitterness. :hinna:
Re: i want to stop eating
:k: Yes, health/fitness has been a big motivator for me too. My dad’s doctor told him he was borderline diabetic and needed to make some serious lifestyle changes. My dad made drastic changes to his diet and ended up losing about 40 pounds. Since then, he’s been healthier and has much more energy and feels like a 18 year old (his words lol).
That’s what got me to change my diet in the last 2 years or so. I used to be HORRIBLE with my food choices (almost 0 veggues/fruits, a lot of fried food etc.). But thankfully, I’ve gotten MUCH better about eating better. My coke intake is under control. The amount of sugar in my chai is the worst thing in my habit right now. I guess I should be grateful that I’m not into sweet food/desserts/chocolates etc.
