Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Hi Yubin, I don't know Pakistan very well either, I only visited it about 4/5 years ago. I always heard stories of 'assana mulk zayada changa ya' but until you really go there, you don't have a clue.
at first you will be very disappointed, because everyone keeps teling you how wonderful and perfect Pakistan actually is, our parents did that to us... they didn't prepare us for the negative sides. It was a shock at first when we went there. My brothers and I wanted to return after only a few days... (which my younger brotehr really did, he came back after just one week...)
but after you are over the culture shock, you start seeing the beautifull things, and when it's time to go back, you don't want to! The horizon is filled with mountains, every where you look, the sky is never empty. and the landscapes are so beautiful! We have family in Kashmir, Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Those are also the only places I've briefly seen. I didn't like Rawalpindi that much, but Kashmir is the most beautiful place and Islamabad the easier place to stay.
Just go and see for yourself. :)
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
What would you like to know about Pakistan? It is very different for different people. Not all the 140 million or so Pakistanis think alike.
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
What do you need to know.
Its a smelly country, has horrid food that gives you stomach problems, it has horrid strange toilets, it has bad driving, and bad roads, and people with terrible social manners, they speak strange languages and have strange and wierd customs and when things go wrong they do strange things like blame evil spirits etc
You REALLY dont wanna know
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
^^ ahem hello....?!
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
I'm a westerner born and raised, fell in love with my Paki-man and just absolutely loved visiting his country of birth.
THere were many sad things to see as there would be in any 3rd world country, but the people were so very lovely, so very welcoming. ALL of them, not just the friends and family but servants, people on the street etc.
I hesitate to return because now I have the 3 baby boys and I am so fearful of flying....but I would SOOO love to go there each and every summer ... for the whole summer. I'd live there without hesitation if hubby could find a good job, its a beautiful, welcoming place. As opposed to the nutso rat race we're living in here.
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Oh yes, the traffic! How could I forget that?! My God, the drivers of Pakistan are heroes. Especially the ones driving on the mountains with NOTHING one side, when you look down the mountain you see endless depth, the bottom isn't even visible, I would be so afraid to drive there and those people drive there daily, and very fast. The mountain roads of Kashmir are so small and sometimes you even have huge trucks coming from the other side. we were traveling in a van my parents hired, and it had to make space for a truck from the opposite direction, I was sitting next to the window and when I looked outside I was shocked to see the depths. If you would fall your body probably wouldn't even be found I think.
THat is even worse than driving on just regular roads. There seem to be no traffic rules, well, nobody seems to care about any traffic signs and rules!
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
yes and in some cases they don’t even have toilets. it’s just a hole in the ground. no, really.
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Lazy Daisy and Phatima 1, what you say is very true. But no matter what, Pakistan is still our own wattan.
We can be born outside Pakistan 100 times, we can try as hard as we can, we will always be foreigners, we will never be respected fully, accepted fully in the west. Even if we do have some western friends who are nice and kind.
But nobody can deny we are Pakistanis. Pasport or not, you do have Pakistani blood running through our veins. Pakistanis might dislike you too, but at least they can't say you don't belong there, because they can't deny your blood.
We can deny and dislike Pakistan, but it is a part of us. There is no perfect place in the world, yes Pakistan is full of faults, and maybe life is probably more difficult there than here, but it's our own mattee, if you know what I mean.
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
I feel fully accepted in the West by respectful people that matter. ![]()
And yes I just came back from the ER this morning and I also have a full dosage of morphene running through my veins. I’m feeling extra pumped. Pakistan Zindabad ![]()

Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Pakistan is a country consisting of almost everything. From mighty glaciers of Kashmir(Northern Areas) to the vast deserts of Balochistan to plateaus of punjab. People are very hospitable and very friendly especially in province of NWFP, people will literally give their lives for you if they have to. Food is great for the most part. The country is dirty and smelly with garbage lining many streets and streets. Corruption is rampant.
Life is very very cheap. A couple of dollars a day will do
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
That's all fine...
But Yubin, is there something Pakistan should know about you?
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Well thats a wonderful thing Pakistan isn’t it
One can empty his bowels in beautiful lush green fields at the same time enjoying the lovely singing birds, just carry ur roll with you
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
I dont think anyone mentioned this but in Pakistan, infact in the whole sub-continent people wash their anus with their left hand, I mean literally they put their left hand in their anus, wiggle it around with the aid of water until the feces comes off.
Sorry for the disturbing image, but its true
Re: I want to know Pakistan more

Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Icono - yes it's a wonderful experience. sigh oh the memories.
ikar - Well I'm not really sure about which specific area in Pakistan you're talking about I'm thinking maybe it's the jungle/safari area in which the species living there are really more of a mixed breed of human / octopus.
Anywho, Pakistanis (yes even in the villiage) use a "muslim shower" or atleast a lotaa. If you really would like to get on someone's case about bathroom hygiene, it's the Goraas. :p
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Guys i was kidding...
Re: I want to know Pakistan more
Gamma don't freak out, you wear diapers so somebody else wiggle their fingers in your anus....
